Position: Senior Business Analyst (Reporting and Data Warehouse)
Location: Boston, MA
Job Summary:
The Senior Business Analyst (Reporting and Data Warehouse) will play a pivotal role in supporting DTA’s data strategy by managing and enhancing data warehouse solutions and reporting structures. This individual will work with stakeholders across the organization to understand reporting needs, optimize data flows, and support the development of dashboards and reports using tools such as Tableau, Cognos, and other reporting technologies. The role requires strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of data management principles, and the ability to bridge technical and business requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Requirement Gathering and Analysis
- Collaborate with DTA’s business teams and stakeholders to gather and document requirements for reporting and data warehouse improvements.
- Analyze data needs and reporting requirements to develop solutions that support the organization’s data strategy.
- Prioritize and translate business requirements into technical specifications, focusing on data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes and reporting solutions.
- Data Warehouse Design and Optimization
- Work closely with data engineering teams to define and enhance data models and ETL workflows in the data warehouse.
- Support the integration of data from DTA’s application databases and various state/federal entities.
- Optimize data pipelines and processing workflows to ensure efficient and timely data delivery for reporting purposes.
- Reporting Development and Support
- Oversee the design and development of reports and dashboards using tools like Tableau, Cognos, and Jasper Reports, ensuring alignment with business needs.
- Provide guidance on best practices for report development and dashboard design to ensure data accuracy, usability, and performance.
- Conduct testing and validation of reports and dashboards, working closely with QA and development teams to resolve any issues.
- Data Quality and Governance
- Ensure compliance with data quality standards, data protection regulations, and governance policies throughout reporting processes.
- Regularly audit data flows and reports to maintain accuracy and consistency across the organization.
- Document data lineage, data dictionaries, and other artifacts essential for maintaining a reliable data environment.
- Documentation and Training
- Develop comprehensive documentation, including report specifications, data dictionaries, and process workflows.
- Create training materials and conduct training sessions for end-users, providing ongoing support for business analysts and executives using reporting tools.
- Gather feedback from users to continuously improve reporting functionalities and optimize the data warehouse structure.
- Technology Assessment and Recommendations
- Stay informed about new technologies in data warehousing, ETL, and reporting to recommend improvements in DTA’s data infrastructure.
- Collaborate with IT and data strategy teams to explore new tools, methods, and best practices, particularly with cloud-based solutions like Snowflake.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in business analysis with a focus on data warehousing and reporting solutions.
- Demonstrated experience in managing and optimizing data flows, ETL processes, and data models.
- Strong familiarity with data visualization tools, specifically Tableau, Cognos, and Jasper Reports.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with data warehouse platforms (e.g., Oracle, Snowflake) and ETL tools such as Informatica.
- Hands-on experience with SQL for data analysis, transformation, and reporting.
- Familiarity with cloud data technologies, especially Snowflake, and experience working on Unix, Linux, and Windows OS.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize work, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Certification in data warehousing or business intelligence tools.
- Experience in cloud-based data platforms and familiarity with data governance and data protection regulations.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: Up to $60.00 per hour
