Job Posting for Immediate Hire: Energy Auditor
EDGE Energy is currently seeking an Energy Auditor to help meet its growing demand for in-home energy audits and consulting in the DC Metro area. This is a full-time position that will require 50% - 100% of travel (local to MD, DC, VA).

We are looking for either an experienced home energy auditor, or someone willing to learn on the job (and study on their own time) to be able to conduct in-home comprehensive energy audits within 3 months. This is a position for individuals that want to make an impact with what they do and aren’t afraid of working hard to achieve their goals. The candidate chosen will learn the ins and outs of completing comprehensive in-home energy audits, how to interact with customers, and as-needed, follow up to close sales on solution packages that we offer.
Some college, in-home sales, or construction experience is preferred, but not required. If you have the right mindset, are a fast learner, and are able to think outside the box, critically, and generally understand how buildings are built (or have the desire to understand), care about the environment and want to make an impact with your career, this may be the job for you!
Requirements:
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Apps (Gmail and Calendar, primarily)
- Proficient with computers and smart-phones, and ability to type, spell, and communicate well with people
- Basic prior knowledge of general building methods, insulation, HVAC, and energy efficient upgrades
- Familiarity with, or ability to learn, CRM systems (like Salesforce), and other software (box.com, energy modelling, etc)
- Driver’s license and clean driving record, with reliable access to an insured vehicle
Skills:
- Well-spoken and a positive attitude
- A people person, comfortable with the idea of in-home consulting and sales
- Be able to work efficiently with a tight schedule
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Able to work well in a team setting and on your own
- Able to learn quickly and adapt on the fly
Abilities:
- Ability to work between the hours of 8am – 5pm (most common), with the ability to work some early mornings, nights, and weekends (as needed)
- Ability to adapt well to different personalities and listen to customer needs
- Ability to think critically and attend to detail
- Ability to interact effectively and positively with prospective customers
- Be willing and physically able to crawl in tight spaces, specifically in an attic or crawlspace
- Be able to lift up to 50 lbs several times a day
Certifications – Preferred, but not required, as the right candidate will be trained:
- BPI HEP Energy Auditor or Building Analyst / Envelope Professional
- OSHA 10 or 30
