Position Summary

Application Developer for Whitworth University to work at our Spokane, WA location.

Core Responsibilities

Work with development team, campus constituents, and supervisor to define project requirements, ID solutions and establish/ maintain project development cycles. Execute development, implementation, and maintenance of secure admin interfaces and web-based apps; assist w/ development on major projects w/ lead developer and moving workloads to the cloud. Conduct app testing. Enforce guidelines, policies, procedures and practices rel to development and maintenance of custom apps, data sources, and development environments. Apply new tech and follow usage of best practices in programming and user interface design. Redesign legacy apps w/ current tech and assist w/ troubleshooting, system updates, and app problems. Consult w/ and provide training to users on system capabilities and usage of apps and ensure customer satisfaction. Work w/ process owners to ID training opportunities, develop training materials and support docs for use by end users and train end users in the use of custom apps. Work w/ IS analysts to develop resources which interface w/ Whitworth's ERP, data warehouse and hosted systems. Maintain app development environments ensuring data integrity, security, performance, and compatibility and assist w/ licensing management and major updates. Create and manage SQL databases and MS Windows security groups and create scripts to automate processes. Wage range $66,019–68,016/yr. May undergo background checks including Washington-mandated Sexual Misconduct Check of past higher education employment and confirmation of degrees earned.

Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree in comp science, comp engineering, or related field and 6 months related experience in systems analysis, design, programming, and developing web-based applications.
  • A personal commitment to the Christian faith and to the integration of faith and learning.
  • Demonstrated growth in cultural competence, awareness of societal and structural inequities, and proven experience in effectively establishing relationships and positive communications with students and other constituents across multiple dimensions of diversity including, but not limited to, race, gender, varying abilities, nationality, sexual orientation, gender identity, class or religious perspectives.
  • A commitment to the educational mission of Whitworth University as a comprehensive Christian liberal arts university affiliated with the Presbyterian church.
