Job Summary

The Catering & Events Sales Manager will oversee researching, developing, securing, processing and servicing catering events and private event business from both social and corporate groups, through active promotion, solicitation, and prospecting while providing exceptional guest experiences. This position will work with local key influencers such as event planners, hotels, chamber of commerce to bring in potential business.

You will coordinate all arrangements from inquiry to the actual event for various on and off-site catering and event groups, working directly with the client, but also our operations and culinary teams to ensure a successful event. You will report directly to the Operations Manager.

Essential Functions include but may not be limit to

Actively find new business and respond to inquiries with the intention of maximizing catering and events business, maintaining a healthy and active pipeline of new business.

Being the face of the Catering & Events Team and Restaurant liaison with guests, clients and event planners.

Coordinate all arrangements (F&B, Rentals, Incidentals) for all events onsite and offsite.

Responsible for any buyouts in restaurants.

Maintain an active tracking system on all inquiries, sales calls, and site visits.

Supervise the execution of catering and other private events. Review all details with culinary and operational teams. Ensure satisfaction of the client throughout the process.

Schedule appropriate staffing for each event; review timing of setup, breakdown and each round of food with all staff members

Finalize deposits and payments for all events; keep the office informed of payment details

Maintain a visible presence in the community through involvement with Industry associations.

Provide hands-on support during events as needed.

Qualifications

5 years previous experience in catering sales and event management

1-2 years of experience in fine dining establishments preferred

Strong understanding of restaurant operations and ability to interface with chefs and restaurant managers

Enjoys working in a team environment

Proven track record of growing catering and event sales business for similar restaurant groups and/or hotels

Strong selling, negotiation and interpersonal skills

Strong communication skills and attention to detail

Attention to detail and strong business acumen

Ability to handle multiple tasks and make decisions in a fast-paced environment

Prerequisites for Employment

California Food Handler's Card

California Department of Alcohol Beverage Control Responsible Beverage Service Certification

Valid California Drivers License

Work Environment

Office presence daily during the week, with occasional travel required to attend meetings and events, or to fulfill other duties as needed.
