Job Summary:

Vaxx Research Incorporated is a Canadian early-stage biotech start-up pioneering a proprietary AI-enabled Multimodal Therapeutic Platform utilizing advanced gene therapy and adoptive cell therapy solutions to prevent and cure HIV, Cancer, Autoimmune and age-related diseases. With recent breakthroughs in biotechnology, non-viral delivery and AI-powered drug discovery tools, we are on the verge of transforming HIV treatment as we know it.

The Business Development Director drives the company's growth and expansion by identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, fostering key client & investor relationships, and enhancing the company's market position. This leadership role will involve strategic planning, market research, partnership development, and achieving revenue, cash flows and growth targets through effective client acquisition and account management strategies.

The position is a bilingual role (English and French proficiency required) and open to Canadian citizens or Permanent residents of Canada only.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning and Execution

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy aligned with the company’s growth objectives.
  • Identify new market opportunities, emerging industry trends, and potential client segments to drive business expansion.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to set revenue targets, performance metrics, and KPIs for business development activities.

Market Research and Analysis

  • Conduct market analysis to identify industry trends, competitor activities, and market gaps.
  • Gather and analyze customer insights to support product development and market positioning.

Client Acquisition and Relationship Management

  • Identify, target, and establish relationships with prospective clients and partners.
  • Lead negotiations, contract discussions, and proposal development to secure new business opportunities.
  • Foster long-term partnerships by maintaining strong relationships with key clients and partners.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Marketing, Product Development, and Sales teams to align efforts, improve go-to-market strategies, and ensure a consistent client experience.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop solutions tailored to client needs.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting

  • Track and report on sales metrics, revenue goals, and other key performance indicators.
  • Prepare regular reports for senior leadership, highlighting progress, challenges, and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field. MBA or other advanced degrees are a plus.
  • Advanced degree in Life Sciences is a plus.

Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in business development, management, sales, marketing or a related field, with at least 3 years in a leadership role, preferably in a therapeutic-focused start-up company or CDMO.
  • Proven track record of achieving revenue targets and driving business growth in a competitive market.
  • Experience in biotechnology, life sciences, and Meditech industry.
  • Ideal candidate who have worked in scaling early-stage start-ups focused on therapeutic or platform development will be given priority.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work with Legal including IP and Finance management
  • Ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions.
  • Proficiency in CRM software, data analysis tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.

Compensation and Benefits:

This role offers a competitive total compensation structure tied to key fundraising, cash flow, and revenue milestones. Upon successful fundraising, the base salary for this position will range from $98,000 to $118,000, based on experience. The comprehensive compensation package, including salary, performance incentives, and equity options (ESOPs), will be finalized following the completion of the current funding round, providing substantial growth potential within our dynamic organization.
