We are looking for an AgSolutions Horticulture Retail Representative to join our Agricultural Solutions team in the Prairie Provinces.

Reporting to the Horticulture Sales Manager, the primary role of the AgSolutions Horticulture Retail Representative is to drive accelerated sales growth of BASF’s new innovations to fruit & vegetable growers and retailers in the Prairie provinces. In addition, the successful candidate will be charged with developing, cultivating, and maintaining business relationships with top growers, working effectively with retail partners, and managing relationships within the channel. The ideal candidate will have a strong market and customer focus with ability to translate information into clear business strategies to generate growth.
As an AgSolutions Horticulture Retail Representative, you create chemistry by...
- Gaining comprehensive understanding of products, applications, and territory needs as it relates to BASF’s Agricultural Horticulture product portfolio.
- Driving "hunting" efforts to grow future business in the Agricultural horticulture segment, including actively identifying and calling on fruit and vegetable growers to communicate the value of new BASF horticulture innovations, focusing on the benefits of BASF's products and services.
- Identifying, negotiating, and closing new opportunities for our products.
- Increasing market intelligence by providing information around industries, competitors, and customers to BASF’s Marketing team.
- Developing a business plan that includes short and long-term customer action plans to respond to market dynamics, to meet or exceed predetermined innovation sales goals.
- Calling on retailers who sell BASF horticultural products to develop sales forecasts, deliver market letters and offer business and technical support to field staff.
- Partnering with technical development specialists, area sales teams, retailers and channel partners to be the growers’ innovation product expert.
- Effectively coaching and mentoring junior sales colleagues, as required.
If you have...
- A Bachelor’s degree or diploma, with a concentration in Agronomy, Chemistry, Biology, Business, Agribusiness or a related field.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience with a Bachelors degree, OR 4 years’ experience with a Diploma/Associates degree.
- Professional experience in sales, or a technical background within an agricultural-related field.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills combined with a passion for making a positive difference in the agriculture industry.
- An ability to develop and cultivate meaningful relationships with customers and internal partners, including success with large operation growers.
- Technical proficiency, including working experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- An ability to self-manage time and resources and to allocate time and energy appropriately, resulting in achievement of goals.
- A valid driver’s license and ability to travel overnight on a weekly basis.
