The Role Remix: EMPIRE is looking for a Marketing Director to join our downtown San Francisco office. This role will report into the SVP, Marketing and will assist with leading the marketing team, release planners, curators, and strategic marketing partners, guiding the ideation & creative direction of marketing campaigns that center artist experiences.

You'll be responsible for identifying creative opportunities to collaborate with artists, while building connections with their fans. This role will also be responsible for the execution of EMPIRE’s global marketing and curation strategies, framing the company's position in the center of music discovery and breaking artists to drive long-term cultural and business growth.

  • You will manage all aspects of artists’ product development from concept to completion and implement comprehensive marketing initiatives for each project with a focus on global audience engagement and growth
  • You will formulate budgets with core team members/departments, department heads, finance, and top executives and allocate project dollars accordingly
  • You will develop ideas to maximize exposure for each artist through performances, special appearances, promotions, grassroots marketing, and online tools
  • You will stay up to date on all Marketing and social trends
  • You will provide guidance to the marketing team
  • Plan, direct, organize, execute and control artist campaigns
  • Work effectively in the strategic planning of the projects
  • Create timelines for releases/campaigns
  • Create and maintain marketing budgets
  • Collaborate with and drive marketing efforts across all departments, including but not limited to social, PR, CRM, radio and commercial
  • Monitor success. Work to maximize revenues and earnings. P&L administration of the projects.
  • Research data within EMPIRE’s information services for decision taking
  • Weekly one-sheets on projects (development of the project, radio, press, blogs, digital updates and key data)
  • Permanent search of new business development opportunities
  • Platform outreach and relationship management
  • Pitch releases for streaming service playlisting & other key partners
  • Provide marketing drivers for Commerce team
  • Direct and supervise exciting and effective creative to support the music and message
  • Develop and coordinate videos, artworks and other visual content
  • Develop innovative campaigns that engage fans utilizing pre-existing social platforms and new technologies.
  • Manage the conception, communication and execution of consumer products and other marketing strategies
  • Build, maintain and assess external marketing partnerships
  • Consistently identify artist needs and ensure approaches and ensure solutions are linked to artist objectives
  • Actively monitor project risks, identify potential problems and proactively identify solutions to address them in advance
  • Communicate and document project status, including progress in each function
  • Any additional duties as assigned

Key Notes for Success:

  • Minimum 5 - 7 years of experience doing marketing in the music industry
  • Expert-level understanding of the technology and marketplace powering today and tomorrow’s music industry
  • Extensive experience in digital marketing, CRM, fan engagement and analytics
  • Experience in developing, creating and implementing Marketing plans
  • Experience in demonstrating excellent planning, negotiation, and problem solving skills in a fast-paced business environment
  • Must be able to understand consumer demographics as they relate to each artist property
  • Experience in social media functions/platforms and familiarity with current trends/campaigns
  • Open to developing new and innovative ways to incorporate a 360 consumer experience into your Marketing plans, whether it be via physical or virtual activations/initiatives
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to make informed decisions in a timely manner
  • Experience breaking new artists with an understanding of current market conditions, trends and best practices
  • Hip Hop / R&B music genre knowledge
  • Passion for Bay Area music and culture
  • Strong administrative skills
  • Must have the ability to write and convey marketing strategies to the teams within the label, as well as to management and the artist, bringing concepts to life
  • Understanding of traditional and digital media, including social and content streaming platforms
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • You understand the importance of confidentiality and discretion
  • A “no job too small” attitude
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects at a time and complete tasks fully through
  • You're not afraid to ask questions and learn as you work
  • You’re extremely detail oriented
  • You're extremely organized
  • Be a team player, open to feedback and strong communication.
  • Must be based in San Francisco Bay Area [or willing to relocate]

Pay Range: $100,000 - $120,000/annual salary + benefits + discretionary bonus + profit sharing program

The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
