Job Description
The Regional Sales Manager, Oncology is responsible for managing all sales activities in a geographic region which includes direct supervision and leadership for the Oncology Account Executives. It includes achieving and sustaining the quarterly and annual goals set forth by the company. Supervisory responsibilities include hiring, training and orientation, oversight to account and territory management, individual goal setting and monitoring of performance, quarterly and annual reviews, and employee performance improvement and/or discipline. The Regional Sales Manager provides direct support for large accounts within the region and assists senior management in strategic planning activities and goal setting for sales.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Direct accountability for hiring, onboarding, training, quarterly assessments, and ongoing coaching regarding targets and overall performance expectations.
- Manage sales team and provide leadership and guidance regarding territory/business plans, managing customer and sales challenges, incorporating data analytics into account management, etc.
- Collaborate on forecast development and drive to achievement of sales goals
- Work with marketing department to ensure collateral and other materials align with promotion of increased customer awareness and adoption of tests into standards of care
- Develop regional business plans and strategies
- Work collaboratively with Sr. Director in identifying and delivering critical information, resources and direction to drive employee engagement, increased sales and customer satisfaction
- Work collaboratively with Marketing, Lab Director, Medical Science Liaisons and other internal partners to ensure effective communication, timely problem resolution and exceptional service provided to our customers
- Represent company at trade shows, key conferences and other business meetings to stay abreast of technical information, competitive updates, enhanced company presence and to promote our Oncology testing
- Monitor expenditures of region to ensure compliance with Travel and Expense policy, budgetary requirements and compliance guidelines
- Co-travel with Oncology Account Executives to ensure visibility to sales performance, create connection with customers and provide leadership visibility and support as needed
- Conduct evaluations of employee performance and provide coaching and/or corrective action when necessary
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the basic knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required:
- Demonstrated evidence of strong leadership and team development skills
- Proven ability to motivate and direct sales team to meet goals and objectives through influencing representative behavior. Required overnight travel of three nights a week.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Since this position requires you to drive extensively during the work day, a valid driving license and driving record satisfactory to the Company, as well as a serviceable vehicle available for work use is mandatory.
- Strong problem solving, critical thinking and leadership skills.
- Show evidence flexibility, team-orientation, self-motivation, solid judgment and a strong work ethic.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree required, MBA is a plus
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years proven success in a medical, diagnostic, life sciences or related industry sales experience required
- Minimum of 3 – 5 years of leadership and team development experience required
Additional Details:
- Weekly travel within territory required.
The total compensation range for this role is $260,000 - $315,000. This is based on a base salary and commission plan combination. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on factors including relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, territory/ geography, education, business needs, market demand and performance versus quota.
