About the opporutnity
The Accounting Manager is a key financial leader that partners across departments and leads the monthly close cycle and accounting operations of four local retail entities while ensuring financial accuracy and integrity.
Responsibilities
Manages accounting operations:
- Cash management/banking transactions
- Accounts payable and disbursements
- Cost-accounting and Inventory Control
- Inter-company transactions
- Review of payroll, commissions, prepaids, fixed assets, and accruals
- Review and/or preparation of journal entries and reconciliations
- Supervise a small accounting team
Hands-on management and development of accounting processes:
- Development of internal controls to maximize efficiencies and minimize risk
- Implementation of best practices/process improvements
Preparation and review of consolidated GAAP financial statements through data analysis, document preparation, integrity validation and reconciliation processes:
- Drive monthly close, reconciliations, analysis and reporting
- Analyze contracts/agreements, research business transactions, and establish proper accounting treatment
- Develop and implement practical application of accounting standards
- Focal point for providing key financial reports and information related to financial results
Team up with management to develop relevant, timely internal reports on financial data analytics:
- Monthly flash and key financial metrics
- Actual spend vs budgets/forecast
Project management:
- Manage sales tax and income tax processes
- Review and/or prepare tax schedules, reconciliations and analytics
- Lead accounting related business improvement initiatives
Skills and Qualifications
Hands-on, results driven, detail-oriented accounting professional operating with steadfast integrity and high emotional intelligence.
- Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance required
- Minimum 7 years accounting experience with progressive responsibilities
- Minimum 3 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity with demonstrated experience with accounting close, financial reporting, accounts receivable and accounts payable
- CPA highly desired (with experience in public accounting), GAAP knowledge required
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to support and enhance a team-based environment
- Proficiency with technology tools, including minimum intermediate Excel proficiency, advanced Excel proficiency desired
- Critical thinking, problem solving, organizational skills and ability to adapt, multi-task and work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a customer service mindset
- Industry experience in retail and manufacturing highly desired
- Must be comfortable navigating the constraints of a small company that reports to the owners/executive team.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
