General Summary:
This position will be a key position within the Sales Department reporting to the Sales Engineering Supervisor. The Sales Engineer will work directly with Account Executives, Senior Account Executives, Operations, and Business Services assisting them with pre-sales activity (for existing and new accounts.) This role has a base salary between $75,000 - $85,000 depending upon experience plus a monthly commission based on sales performance of the assigned territory.
Essential Job Functions:
- Utilizes Salesforce (or has knowledge of a similar CRM platform) to provide technical sales support for both voice and data opportunities, either from the office or at the customer location.
- Identify potential access methods including UNE copper, fiber, and third-party last mile fiber providers.
- Actively participates in customer meetings in person or via virtual meetings as needed.
- Represent the sales team on the weekly Engineering review call. Provide technical details to Network Engineering and OSP Engineering as required to estimate project costs.
- Work with the Sales Engineering Supervisor and Director of Sales to conduct comprehensive sales and product knowledge training for Account Executives.
- Stay current with new technologies and understand how they will be deployed. Suggest opportunities for new product development.
- Stay active with trade groups and vendors to facilitate sales opportunities through strong vendor relationships.
- Assist in the development of cost models for products and services.

- Knowledge of the sales processes and associated sales skills.
- Knowledge of Google Earth and GIS systems
- Expertise in company products and services.
- Knowledge of company policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of general office procedures.

- Skill in identifying problems and resolutions.
- Ability to communicate with customers, co-workers, and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner.

- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in fast paced environment.
- Expertise in Telecommunications technology, including telephony, Ethernet, IP, VoIP and DWDM.
- Knowledge of third-party fiber networks including MaineCom, MFC, FirstLight, Lightower, Spectrum Business, Consolidated, Frontier and GWI.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma required; 2 or 4-year degree preferred, with a minimum of five years of experience in technical and/or sales engineering roles in the telecommunications industry.
