POSITION OVERVIEW:

As the Head of Event Sales, you will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive sales strategy to maximize revenue and market share for Malibu Pier events.

Key Responsibilities:

Revenue Generation:

  • Develop and execute high growth strategies to optimize revenue streams from events at the venue, ensuring consistent growth and profitability.

Managing the Event Deal Flow:

  • Oversee the end-to-end sales process, from lead generation to contract signing, and closing the loop with post-event follow-up.
  • Provide professional and rapid-fire responses and communication with prospective customer requests for information and proposal; negotiate pricing/terms with clients to ensure maximum revenue and profit.

Client Acquisition (Inbound and Outbound):

  • Employ both inbound and outbound approaches to identify and engage potential clients, cultivating strong and lasting relationships to expand the venue's client portfolio.

Venue Tours:

  • Conduct informative and compelling venue tours for prospective clients, showcasing the unique features and capabilities of the venue.

Proposal Generation:

  • Craft and present detailed event proposals that align with client needs and expectations while emphasizing a clear understanding of the venue's capabilities and constraints.

Customer Communication and Relationship Management:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining open lines of communication, addressing inquiries, and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the event planning process.

Negotiation and Contract Management:

  • Skillfully negotiate contracts and agreements, paying meticulous attention to terms and conditions, and manage all contract-related documentation.

Payment Tracking:

  • Implement rigorous payment tracking systems to ensure timely and accurate financial transactions, adhering to established payment schedules.

Business Development:

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, leveraging market insights and industry knowledge to expand the venue's market share.

Event Package Development:

  • Create and refine event packages, tailoring offerings to meet client needs and maximize revenue potential.

Monitoring Competition:

  • Stay informed about industry trends and competitive developments, using this knowledge to inform strategic decisions and maintain the venue's competitive edge.

Marketing Collaboration:

  • Work closely with our marketing team to develop and execute marketing strategies and campaigns that effectively promote the venue's unique offerings and enhance brand visibility.

Collaboration with Event Planners and Partners:

  • Cultivate and nurture relationships with event planners and partners, fostering productive collaborations and enhancing the venue's reputation as a preferred event destination.

Performance Reporting and Analysis:

  • Generate regular reports and conduct in-depth analysis of sales and performance metrics, providing actionable insights to guide decision-making and continuous improvement efforts.

Neighbor and Tenant Relations:

  • Foster positive relationships with the Malibu community, including our residential neighbors, as well as with tenants who operate independent businesses at the Malibu Pier, promoting a harmonious environment and seeking opportunities for mutually beneficial collaborations.

Qualifications:

  • Five (5)+ years of experience in event sales preferred.
  • Hospitality or related degree preferred.
  • Local candidates with an existing book of business preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills, experience with Tripleseat or Honeybook event management software, and/or other POS Systems, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to work well in a deadline-driven environment
  • Demonstrated and proven ability to identify KPIs, develop a departmental business plan, and execute stated objectives.
  • Ability to identify customer needs and respond utilizing creative listening.
  • Flexible thinker who can adapt selling strategies to changing market conditions and continue to reach sales performance objectives.
  • Superior guest service skills, a keen eye for detail, and excellent follow-through.
  • Strong outreach and business development acumen – ability to identify upsell opportunities.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule to include working on occasional weekends.
  • Must have a professional demeanor with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Prior management of budgets, forecasting, and capital expenditures.
  • Combine strategic thinking, as well as understanding the importance of a seamless event delivery, with the ability to roll up your sleeves and get the job done.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
