POSITION PURPOSE
The Vice President of Sales reports to the Chief Commercial Officer. The position requires someone with strong leadership and organizational skills to drive the company's revenue expectations; establishing and directing the goals of the Regional Directors of Sales through motivation and clear communication; ensuring positive team member and owner relations; strong sales skills; multi-tasking; initiative; and business professionalism.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the Sales and Marketing Discipline for a large portfolio of diverse hotels
- Develop and implement the total sales and marketing efforts for Schulte Hospitality Group, including securing new accounts, maintaining existing accounts, supervising activities of sales personnel, and executing sales strategies to maximize profitability while maintaining customer satisfaction.
- Recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, cultivation, and performance management of a team of Regional Director of Sales.
- Creating and executing global corporate strategies and initiatives, as well as pulling through all brand initiatives, including utilization of all brand tools and resources
- Review and provide guidance and support on booking goals, DOS development, solicitation & closing tactics/efforts, reporting and internal/external communication.
- Support, lead and participate in scheduled weekly, bi-weekly and monthly conference calls.
- Work in connection with Chief Commercial Officer to regularly establish and monitor goals and production, to include accurate and timely forecasting of anticipated sales.
- Create and maintain a supportive and inclusive culture through building relationships with regional and hotel sales team
- Participate in market analysis for future development, acquisitions and transitions
- Lead ownership communication for assigned hotels
- Own forecast, annual budget and annual business plan process for the discipline while working in collaboration with VP of Revenue to establish overall hotel KPI Targets.
- Develop strategies to achieve personal and sales team goals, and act as a mentor to teammates in an effort to help others achieve their individual goals.
- Participate in joint sales calls or sales blitz with the regional sales team.
- Maintain product knowledge of the various brands through established company standards.
- Stay abreast of industry trends by reading industry papers and travel related articles and attending industry events.
- Maintain ethical and professional standards of sales service.
- Perform various other duties as assigned to meet business objectives.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree preferably in Hotel/Restaurant Management or related field
- 5+ Years as a Director of Sales or Director of Sales and Marketing at a Full Service branded hotel.
- Regional/Corporate Hotel Sales Leadership Experience required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel and PowerPoint, forecasting analysis and industry standard computer systems and Business intelligence tools such as CVent, Lanyon, Brand platforms, Kalbiri, TravelClick/Amadeus, Delphi etc.
- Ability to travel required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of key monthly reports that provide market share, pricing, competitive analysis and forecasting.
- Understanding all market segments - group and transient, revenue management and online distribution channels.
- Must be detail oriented, with strong self-organization and communication skills.
- Promotes an atmosphere of teamwork with the ability to lead by example.
- Builds morale and spirit while instilling an industry leading guest service attitude in all associates.
- Strong customer service orientation and skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- "Hands-on" leadership approach to management and team development.
- Willingness to take on any sales & marketing project related assignments.
- Must be able to prioritize hotel or departmental functions in order to meet all deadlines.
- Executes all performance management, oversee recruitment & retention programs for sales personnel, to include bonus program & annual reviews.
- Well-versed in strategic planning and execution of sales related strategies, as well as all business segmentation and sources.
- Excellent communicator and dynamic presenter.
- Ability to lead, motivate and direct with clear communication.
