JOB TITLE: Safety Engineer
REPORTS TO: Project Manager, Senior Project Manager, Operations Manager or Safety Director
SUMMARY:
Acts in a safety, engineering and estimating assistance capacity under strong supervision, for all activities of assigned projects or estimates within clearly established policies and procedures.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Gains knowledge of safety regulations and company safety policy.
- Clearly and effectively communicate with foreman and workforce in field.
- Interact with foreman and workers to promote positive safety culture.
- Conduct frequent and regular jobsite inspections to ensure safety of workers.
- Assists with audit of foremen and supervision to ensure compliance to safety policy.
- Assists with the implementation and enforcement of disciplinary program.
- Gains knowledge to identify and recommend solutions to hazardous/potentially hazardous situations with field managers and foremen.
- Gains knowledge to advise and consent safety plans and practices proposed by project and field managers. Assist with hazard assessment as needed.
- Have duty and authority to immediately suspend any operation or activity that is Imminent Danger or IDLH.
- Assists with investigating accidents and injuries to help determine root causes and find practical solutions.
- Collaborate and develop relationships with other contractors, safety professionals and clients to facilitate positive and safe work environment.
- Assists with the preparation of assigned bids in accordance with Estimating Policy and Procedures in order to provide a complete & checked estimate.
- Interprets plans and specifications.
- Performs quantity take-off survey via on screen take off, as required.
- Gains knowledge of the project folder, field package, cost control and accounting systems.
- Gains knowledge of the field methods and systems by periodic field visits to active projects.
- Gains the required technical knowledge for all product lines (drywall, specialties, doors).
- Gains knowledge of local, city and state building codes in assigned locations.
- Gains knowledge of the skills required to market the company.
- Attends scope review meetings with the Estimator to gain experience representing the company.
- Gains knowledge of all tasks required to build a complete & checked estimate, and all required research, analysis and vendor/material pricing.
- Gains knowledge of the tasks required to assist the Business Development Manager with marketing and closings.
- Participates fully in the company training program.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: B.S in Occupational Safety and Health (preferred)

Experience: Recent college graduate up to three (3) years completing the above tasks
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Thorough knowledge of applicable OSHA regulations.
- Basic proficiency with MS-Office.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in safety is preferred.
- Must have satisfactory background check.
- Must be willing to sign non-disclosure agreement (NDA) covering confidential information, intellectual property, non-solicitation, non-interference.
