MoboTrex has an opportunity to join our growing organization as a part-time ITS Sales Engineer who will promote, present, demonstrate, market and sell all of MoboTrex’s exclusive products and services. This position is designed to spend a majority of time on proactive project and need generating activities. A minority of time will be spent on reactive troubleshooting and problem solving activities.

We engineer, manufacture, and sell a wide range of standard and custom traffic control products across America. This part-time role is not eligible for benefits.

Location

The ideal candidate must be willing to travel in this part-time role within assigned areas and occasionally elsewhere in the USA. This position will report to a manager in our office located in Davenport, Iowa.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical product training for external and internal customers. Organize, lead and conduct technical product training to draw external customers to MoboTrex and to make internal customers more knowledgeable and self-sufficient. Communicate at an appropriate technical level.
  • Support the Regional Sales Managers by making sales calls with or on behalf of the proprietary vendors if needed to close large contracts and to create long-term projects.
  • Perform field surveys and in-field troubleshooting to secure future sales.
  • Participate in planning and executing User Group meetings.
  • Assist sales staff responding to RFP’s and RFI’s for selected opportunities.
  • Assist operations staff executing large or complex projects.
  • Represent MoboTrex professionally via direct, face-to-face customer and vendor contact in a technical sales and technical support capacity. Evangelize and create excitement for the products and services.
  • Participate in industry and trade association events as the company liaison/ambassador.
  • Help identify and develop new products and suppliers that fit into the Company’s business objectives.
  • Conduct daily business in compliance with all company policies and departmental guidelines.
  • Perform other tasks and special projects as assigned
Requirements:

Education and/or Experience:

Five to seven years of sales or technical service experience in the traffic signal industry with specific working knowledge of traffic signal controllers and cabinets is required. A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or equivalent professional experience is required. International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Traffic Signals Level II or higher is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Experience in the Intelligent Traffic Systems, detection products, wireless communications and emerging transportation technologies

2. Must be self-motivated and possess a tenacious drive for success

3. Excellent presentation and communications skills-both written and verbal; candidate must be very comfortable giving presentations and demonstrations

4. Ability to respond promptly to requests for service and assistance as needed and have a focus for customer follow up

5. Experience using CRM tools and an ability to communicate progress with leadership

6. Attention to details and accuracy

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, talk, or hear and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the employee may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders.

The employee must occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions and the ability to adjust focus. The position is an office-based position with required travel including: up to 50% overnight travel and up to 25% day trips

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
The part-time hours of work are Monday through Friday. Specific schedules may vary based upon business needs.
