The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has a full-time opportunity available for a LAN Administrator (Information Systems Specialist 4) in Portland, Oregon.

The Central Services Division (CSD) assists the Agency in achieving its mission by providing central management services for the agency in accounting, budgeting, information systems, human resources, health and safety, training, policy and organizational development, purchasing, and facilities management. The division serves headquarters and 3 regional divisions, the Vehicle Inspection Program, and the Laboratory and Environmental Assessment Division. Services are provided for over 700 positions, various local and regional governments, and directly to citizens.

What you will do!
You will provide service desk user support, technical support, training, technical documentation, problem resolution, and implementation coordination for DEQ’s internal users with their stand-alone computer hardware, software, mobile devices, account management, and network connectivity.

What are we looking for?
Minimum Qualifications: 3 years of information systems experience, OR an Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field and 1 year of information systems experience.
Candidates who are most competitive will also reflect the following:
- Experience providing technical consultation and advice to managers, technical and professional IT staff, and system users both internal and external.
- Information technology systems experience in software, hardware, mobile devices, and cloud-based technologies.
- Experience analyzing and diagnosing user problems and implementing solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience creating internal information technology standard operating procedures and user based technical documentation.
- Experience with Microsoft Active Directory, User account management, Windows Server file structure administration, and support desk tracking software.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to deal diplomatically with upset or adversarial people in person and on the phone.
- Ability to prioritize workload to meet changing priorities, complicated assignments, and tight deadlines.
- Ability to use critical thinking and analytical skills to form independent judgment, initiative, and decision-making; ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
Working Conditions:

This position will be based at DEQ’s Headquarters office in Portland and will require full-time, in-office work for the initial six-month training period. After the training period, a minimum of three in-office days per week will be required, depending on workload. Some travel to other DEQ offices may also be required as needed by the agency. The logistics of hybrid work will be discussed with the Hiring Manager prior to your hire and may be adjusted at any time based on specific job duties and business needs. DEQ will provide the necessary hardware (laptop, monitor, keyboard, mouse, and cell phone) to enable successful remote work.
This position requires the occasional moving of items weighing up to 75 pounds. There will also be the potential need to occasionally work evenings, weekends, and holidays in response to potential environmental emergency conditions.
