NJ/NY Gotham FC (“Gotham FC” or “the Club”) is a National Women’s Soccer League (“NWSL”) team representing New Jersey and New York. The team plays at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, NJ.
The Role:
Gotham FC is seeking a Director of Sales who will report to the Chief Business Officer. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing the strategic direction and operational functions for Gotham FC's ticket sales verticals, which includes developing and executing revenue-generating ticket programs that maximize the relationship between the fanbase and the Club. In addition, this role will be responsible for overseeing and developing the ticket sales team to achieve revenue and retention goals. The ideal candidate will be a key leader in the front office and will ensure continuous improvement of Gotham FC's sales operation. This person will be deeply analytical and consumer-centric, always using data to make decisions in the best interest of our fans and their experience with the Club.
Key Responsibilities:
- Directly oversee a Sales team, consisting of single, group premium and new business sales verticals.
- Partner closely with the operations and services team to achieve department goals.
- Build and lead a positive sales culture with a deep focus on the fan and their experience.
- Recruit, hire, and oversee a ticket sales staff with a focus on employee development and continued training as needed.
- Own sales performance reporting; sharing performance and recommended actions up, down, and across the organization.
- Use fan insights to develop products and packages that better meet fan needs to improve sales and retention performance.
- Create and implement a robust sales management process inclusive of campaign strategy, projection reporting, pipeline, account planning, and proposals.
- Assist the Club management team with monitoring revenue pipeline and leads, adjusting as necessary to create disciplined growth.
- Own key ticketing-related relationships across the department, including those with supporter groups, technology providers, vendors, etc.
- Partner with key teams such as marketing on sales collateral and promotion
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience required.
- 5+ years of experience in ticket sales, premium sales, or related field.
- 2+ years in a management role leading a sales or service team.
- Proven ability to develop and train staff and identify future sales candidates.
- Track record of achieving and surpassing sales goals.
Capability & Other Characteristics:
- An understanding of the sports, hospitality, and entertainment industry.
- A strong sense of self-awareness and emotional intelligence, and strong interpersonal conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
- Commercially focused on achieving and surpassing revenue goals within a highly sales-focused organization.
- Deeply consumer-centric with a focus on data and analytics.
- Experience in a variety of ticketing verticals across sales and service (group, premium, etc.).
- Strong communication skills; must be comfortable with engaging in a variety of different communicative modes (verbal, non-verbal, and written) and being attuned to others through strong, active listening skills.
- Must be able to identify problems, their sources, and potential solutions while continuing to successfully conduct day-to-day operations without interruption.
- Must be self-directed and able to work independently.
- Must be a flexible and reliable team player, both within own department and within the Club as a whole.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
Location:
Based at Gotham FC’s business office, which is located at 15 Exchange Place Jersey City, New Jersey, on a hybrid working schedule which consists of three core in-office/in-person days (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) and two non-core days (Monday and Friday), with the option of being in the business office or remote. Ability to attend all home games and any mandatory events as well as away games, as necessary. A willingness to travel for other business-related needs, as they arise. Ability to work at the team’s soccer operations office in Whippany, New Jersey, as needed. Gotham FC requires its associates to live in its market, that is, within reasonable commuting distance of Gotham FC’s offices, practice facility and Red Bull Arena.
