Dakota Supply Group (DSG) is seeking a Learning and Development Specialistin either our La Crosse, WI or Fargo, ND location. The Learning and Development Specialist excels at identifying current and future skillsets to help foster growth and opportunities for employee-owners at Dakota Supply Group. They will investigate and create flexible ways of learning and development to meet the diverse needs of our organization. They will also create a training strategy and curriculum for a variety of positions, creating clear career paths for all associates.

A Typical Day in the Life of a Learning and Development Specialist at DSG:

  • Assist the Sr. People Development Manager in developing and executing the organizational learning & development strategy
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify learning needs and skills gaps within the organization
  • Design and develop innovative learning programs, courses, and materials aligned with organizational objectives and individual development plans
  • Apply instructional design principles to create engaging and interactive learning experiences, incorporating a variety of delivery methods such as e-learning modules, workshops, simulations, and on-the-job training
  • Facilitate training sessions and workshops using a variety of techniques to accommodate different learning styles and preferences
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of learning initiatives through feedback, assessments, and performance metrics to make data-driven recommendations for improvement
  • Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies in learning and development, and leverage digital tools and platforms to enhance the learning experience
  • Support organizational change initiatives by providing learning interventions and resources to facilitate smooth transitions and adoption of new process or systems
  • Collaborate with leaders and employee owners throughout the organization to ensure alignment of learning initiatives with business goals and priorities
  • Continuously review and update learning content and methodologies to reflect evolving business needs, industry trends, and best practices in learning & development
  • Own DSG's Career Pathing program, ensuring employee owners have access to the appropriate learning available to align with their career goals
  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of the learning management system (LMS), including account management, course setup, and content uploads
  • Customize and configure the LMS to align with organizational goals and learning objectives, including user roles and permissions, course structures, and reporting mechanisms
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for LMS-related inquiries and issues, providing timely and effective technical support to users at all levels of the organization
  • Diagnose and resolve technical problems, errors, and system bugs, working with external vendors as needed
  • Manage and maintain the integrity of user data, course catalogs, and other system records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with data protection regulations
  • All other duties as assigned

A Successful Learning and Development Specialist Typically Has:

  • Bachelor's degree and/or 3-5 years of experience in Education, Instructional Design, Human Resources, or a related field
  • Proven experience designing and delivering effective learning solutions
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design models, and training methodologies
  • Proficiency in learning management systems (LMS) and other technologies
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Creative problem-solving skills and a proactive, results-oriented mindset
  • Certification in training, instructional design, or related field is a plus
