Our Opportunity
We are expanding our team! Richelieu is seeking a Construction Outside Sales Representative to take responsibility for expanding Richelieu’s customer base by focusing on contractor and builder relationships in the Boston and surrounding New England area. This position will be performed remotely but must be local in/near Detroit, in order to make in-person sales presentations to our local customers.

Key Responsibilities
The Construction Outside Sales Representative is responsible for the overall relationship and management of day-to-day sales activities towards customers and clients in his/her territory. This person will largely focus on products in our Onward product category. You will successfully manage the sales of Richelieu product solutions through structured consultative sales discussions, ultimately serving as a business advisor towards your customers. By positioning yourself as an indispensable resource, you will enable your customers to solve problems and increase business results. In turn, you will be building a thriving business of your own.
- Develop a strong understanding of, and build a network of relationships with, builders and contractors in your local area
- Schedule and hold meetings with new and existing customers, learning about their business and how Richelieu product solutions can enhance their results
- Maintain accountability for the growth of your territory, both through new customer acquisition as well as the development of existing relationships
- Identify and analyze past buying patterns of current accounts, and brainstorm ways to become their stronger, more inclusive supplier
- Provide a state of the art customer service experience, positioning yourself as their desired one-stop shop
- Educate yourself on, and continuously stay up to date with, Richelieu’s product offerings as well as ever-changing market conditions and competitive analysis
- Hold responsibility for system information and reporting in CRM application
- Position may require lifting/pushing/carrying items up to 50 pounds
What We Are Looking For
- 3+ years of sales experience is ideal - a background in selling to the construction industry and/or builders is necessary for success
- A strong, innate drive to excel in sales efforts, excellent social skills, and highly self-motivated
- Passionate, proactive, coachable, strong work ethic
- Ability to schedule and manage your own time, delivering on the activities that produce results
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Developed analytical, planning, organizing, and monitoring skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; must be able to effectively use Excel, Word, Outlook for daily responsibilities and tasks
- As this position requires regular automobile travel, you must have your own independent, reliable transportation. This position requires you to work "in the field," making in-person visits to customers three to four days per week. Must live in local territory.
