Job Description
The Director of Sales is responsible for driving business growth, expanding current accounts, and enhancing profit margins. This role is crucial in shaping and implementing sales strategies, delivering analytical insights, and cultivating relationships with both new and existing clients. Key responsibilities include establishing strong client connections, identifying market opportunities, and leading the sales team to surpass revenue and profitability goals. Flexibility and travel are essential, as the Director of Sales will frequently meet with clients, participate in industry events, and support our expanding network. This is a remote position with a high travel requirement.
Responsibilities:
- New Business Development:
- Drive revenue growth by identifying and securing new business opportunities.
- Develop and implement strategies to penetrate target markets and expand the client base.
- Develop and implement strategies to reach sales targets and enhance profitability.
- Account Expansion:
- Build strong, long-term relationships with existing clients to understand their needs, promote new services or products, and uncover opportunities for additional sales
- Strategic Sales Planning
- Collaborate with the executive team to define sales objectives, forecasts, and long-term goals.
- Lead the development of sales strategies, pricing, and distribution strategies to meet company objectives.
- Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitor activities to refine sales plans.
- Margin & Financial Management
- Monitor and manage profit margins by analyzing pricing, sales expenses, and market dynamics.
- Collaborate with finance and operations teams to align sales initiatives with margin improvement goals.
- Conduct regular financial reviews to ensure revenue targets are met, focusing on cost control and profitability.
- Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and motivate the sales team to achieve individual and collective goals.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business growth initiatives.
- Develop and implement key performance metrics for the sales team, ensuring alignment with overall company goals.
- Travel & Relationship Building
- Maintain a consistent presence with clients and attend industry events as required to strengthen relationships and represent the company.
- Regular travel required for client meetings, industry events, support business development and maintain key partnerships

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field; MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in sales leadership, preferably within fresh produce
- Demonstrated success in new business development, account management, and margin optimization.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
- Ability to work independently and handle a travel schedule

Working conditions
- Work environment is usually fast paced with frequent short deadlines and regular instances of critical or unusual situations requiring a high level of adaptability and flexibility.
- Field of work includes offices, the warehouse and surrounding grounds, roads/highways/interstates, automobiles, and various kinds of customer locations. Limited hazards due to presence in warehouse, office, and grounds surrounding distribution center, and roads.
- Standard hazards associated with persons and equipment in motion in a warehouse.
Physical requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, sit, talk, walk, drive, read, type and hear.
- The employee must frequently stand and walk. The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
