Job Description

Sales Engineers are responsible for acting as the liaison between the customer and American Machine & Gear (Amgear). The sales engineer maintains a strong relationship with existing customers assigned to them, as well as seeking out new customers. They will understand their customers’ needs, inform them of how Amgear can help meet those needs, and quote their specific inquiries, as required.

They will also enter orders received from customers into the computer system, working with the Shop Superintendent on the customer’s requirements, their required delivery time and quality level, as well as necessary materials. For their accounts, they will also inform the customer of any delays in shipment, determine the method of delivery and perform any necessary follow-up after the shipment.

This sales engineer position is focused on gears and similar machined parts. This is a very technical field and development of in depth knowledge of gearing is essential. This position also acts as technical advisor for the machinists in the gear shop.

This sales engineer will work with a base of existing customers, some of whom only require tooth cutting services and others who need us to furnish complete gears. Existing customers, for the most part, can be served from our office. The sales engineer will also be charged with developing new markets and new customers, which will require visiting new and potential new customers in person, who may be local or farther away.

They will participate in management meetings as required, providing input on company strategy and policies and carry out such other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $1,200.00 - $1,500.00 per week
