Additional Information:
This hotel is owned and operated by an independent franchisee, San Antonio Marriott Northwest Medical Center. The franchisee is a separate company and a separate employer from Marriott International, Inc. The franchisee solely controls all aspects of the hotel’s employment policies and practices, including hiring, firing, discipline, staffing, compensation, benefits, and all other terms and conditions of employment. If you accept a position at this hotel, you will be employed by a franchisee and not by Marriott International, Inc.

The Group Sales Manager is responsible for generating group business for the San Antonio Marriott Northwest Medical Center by developing and implementing effective sales strategies, fostering strong relationships with clients, and working collaboratively with the hotel’s sales and operations teams to ensure successful execution of group events. The primary goal is to maximize hotel revenue through securing group bookings, meetings, conferences, and events.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Proactively identify and pursue new group business opportunities in key markets such as corporate, social, educational, sports, and government segments.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with key decision-makers to maximize repeat business and referrals.
  • Conduct outside sales calls, attend industry events, and participate in networking opportunities to drive group sales leads.
  • Prepare and deliver sales presentations, proposals, and contracts to potential clients.
  • Work closely with Marriott’s Global Sales team and other partners to target high-value accounts.
  • Manage and grow existing accounts by understanding client needs, upselling services, and ensuring high levels of client satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with clients on the planning and execution of group bookings, including room blocks, meetings, and events.
  • Ensure proper documentation and communication of group details with relevant hotel departments for smooth event execution.
  • Assist in forecasting group revenue and contribute to the hotel’s overall sales and marketing strategy.
  • Negotiate rates and contracts to ensure profitability while maintaining competitiveness in the market.
  • Monitor group blocks and pickup, adjusting strategies as needed to maximize room occupancy and revenue.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activity, and market conditions to identify opportunities for new business.
  • Analyze sales data and prepare reports on group sales performance, trends, and forecasts for senior management.
  • Ensure all sales activities are accurately recorded in the hotel’s CRM and other systems.
  • Work closely with the Director of Sales & Marketing, Revenue Manager, and Event Planning team to coordinate group bookings and
ensure operational success.
  • Participate in weekly sales meetings and strategy sessions to contribute insights and ideas for improving group sales performance.
  • Maintain strong relationships with Marriott corporate sales teams and other hotel departments to deliver exceptional guest experiences.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, business, marketing, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of group sales experience in the hospitality industry, preferably with Marriott or other upscale hotel brands.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple clients and projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM systems (preferably Marriott CI/TY).
  • Ability to travel as needed for sales calls and industry events.
