Job Title: Valve & Actuator Outside Sales Engineer
Salary: $60,000 - $65,000, based on experience - Draw plus uncapped commission
Department: New York Municipal Sales
Location: Rochester, New York
Reports To: Municipal Sales Manager/Vice President


Job Overview:

The Valve and Actuator OSE is responsible for the growth of valve and actuator sales throughout NYS. In addition, the position is responsible for developing and executing the plan to significantly increase Siewert Equipment’s actuator-to-valve integration and capabilities. OSE will be responsible for physically visiting with and developing strong relationships with key decision-makers at water and wastewater plants throughout New York State. This person will communicate and demonstrate the valve and actuator capabilities of Siewert Equipment through discussions, product demonstrations, presentations, troubleshooting, and professional technical guidance to our customers.

  • Prior municipal plant and engineering/consulting firm sales experience is required

  • Ability to develop (with manager assistance) and execute a sales call territory plan
  • Ability to develop (with manager assistance) and execute a valve/actuator stocking and integration plan

Scope of Responsibility:

  • Develop (with manager assistance) a territory call plan and repetitive travel patterns.
  • Visit every wastewater plant >3MGD in a 12 month period.
  • Develop a list of “targeted” WWTPs that have opportunities for incremental valve and actuator sales.
  • Multiple visits to develop strong relationships with key decision-makers at these plants.
  • Work with outside sales engineers and Process Equipment Manager to identify plants that are or will be investing in plant upgrades in the next 2-5 years. Multiple visits to develop strong relationships with key decision-makers at these plants.
  • Influence plant stakeholders to show preference to SECO valve and actuator products and services when meeting with consulting engineers regarding plant upgrades and investments.
  • Develop relationships with key decision-makers in all major engineering/consulting firms throughout NYS. This will be accomplished with routine, daily sales calls as well as PE-approved product and capabilities presentations.
  • Joint sales calls with outside sales engineers to provide technical product expertise where required.
  • Work with SECO Sales and Service management to develop and execute a valve and actuator stocking and integration plan. The goal is for SECO Service Department to have all the capabilities and expertise to integrate and program actuators to valves.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
