Position Summary

We are looking for a strategic and dynamic Director of Sales to lead our sales and marketing initiatives, driving revenue growth and customer retention. This position is responsible for planning, implementing, and controlling sales programs while recruiting, training, and motivating a high-performing sales team. The Director of Sales will develop selling programs that deliver company growth objectives and ensure customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales Leadership

  • Exceed sales and gross profit targets.
  • Recruit, hire, and develop sales staff, fostering continuous improvement through coaching and training.
  • Establish and monitor sales goals, objectives, and incentive compensation plans.
  • Conduct weekly sales team meetings and one-on-one check-ins to ensure alignment with company goals.

Strategic Planning & Analysis

  • Develop and execute sales plans, including SWOT analysis and competitive strategy.
  • Identify target markets and customers, analyzing business opportunities and threats.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Marketing to coordinate efforts that maximize profitability.

Operational Excellence

  • Ensure the integrity of CRM systems, maintaining accurate sales pipelines and forecasts.
  • Create and update sales KPIs, conducting quarterly and annual performance reviews.
  • Establish budgets for the sales department and ensure alignment with company goals.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Manage relationships with key accounts, ensuring customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Conduct regular customer interviews and address any service issues in collaboration with operations teams.
  • Represent the company at trade shows and conferences as needed.

Team Collaboration

  • Work with Marketing to generate qualified sales leads and increase brand awareness.
  • Develop synergies between sales, marketing, and operational teams to achieve strategic goals.
  • Act as a member of the Executive Team, contributing to strategic planning and corporate issues.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervises 8 employees, including Sales Representatives and Inside Sales Coordinators.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; a Master’s degree is a plus.
  • 5+ years of sales leadership experience in the transportation industry, with familiarity in customs brokerage and logistics services.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales growth and developing high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and defined sales processes.
  • Growth-oriented mindset with a focus on strategic planning and execution.

  • Ability to build and sustain internal and external relationships.
  • Executive presence, integrity, and cross-functional leadership skills.

Job Metrics/KPIs:

  • Sales (new and expanded business) vs. budget.
  • Selling and marketing expenses vs. budget.
  • Sales forecast accuracy and pipeline performance.
  • Customer satisfaction and retention metrics.
  • Number of new clients won and proposals submitted.

  • Salary Range: $130,000 to $150,000 annually (depending on skills and experience)
