Position Overview

Giffen Consulting Ltd. (GCL) is looking to add a Regional Lead, Central Canada to an already accomplished leadership team. We are looking for an individual with a mining and heavy industrial background to join us on a full-time Hybrid basis from our Toronto, ON office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop strategies for profitable penetration into the central Canada markets (SK, MB, ON, QC).
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with customers and clients, and work with stakeholders to determine solutions requirements.
  • Assume lead role in business generation and deal execution.
  • Initiate market research studies and analyze their findings to develop marketing strategies and strategic capture plans.
  • Responsible for the implementation of the corporate growth plan.
  • Monitor impact of marketing and sales activities; assist in the development of pricing list, catalogs, and marketing literature.
  • Support all aspects relating to proposal and presentation development and client deliverables as they relate to all client stages from prospecting, and implementation, to account management.
  • Work closely with corporate directors to compile, develop, assess, and maintain appropriate proposal exhibits, appendices, project profiles, and illustrative documents.
  • Maintain a register of key business opportunities and engage in regular follow up with key client contacts.
  • Work with corporate directors to confirm staffing levels to ensure that projected backlog can be adequately staffed with appropriately senior personnel.
  • Nurture broad relationships across the mining sector with various current and prospective clients.
  • Assist with other communications projects and objectives as required, acting as a support to the communications efforts.
  • As needed, handle formatting and electronic and print production for client deliverables related to business development pursuits.
  • Maintain and update project profiles and key company information that may be required to be included in proposals / pursuits.
  • Represent Giffen Consulting at key conferences and trade shows.
  • Regular site visits to active and prospective clients’ mines sites as part of the tendering process, or as part of post-award relationship management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 10+ years experience in the mining and metals industry.
  • 10+ years in sales selling a solution / in a service industry.
  • Diploma or Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Marketing, Business, or related discipline.
  • Proven working experience in a business development, sales executive, or other relevant role.
  • Experience in customer support is an asset.
  • Advanced in Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Visio, and other graphics applications (e.g., Adobe Acrobat, etc.), fully versed in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, linked worksheets, etc.) and proficient in Microsoft Project (e.g. Able to build simple work breakdown structures).
  • Willing and able to travel for business development activities.
  • Ability to build personal rapports.
  • Experience in Project Management would be an asset
