Wellfit Technologies is seeking an experienced Payments Architect to lead the design and implementation of scalable and secure payment systems for our role as a payment facilitator (PayFac). This role is responsible for architecting high-performance payment processing systems, working with key payment partners like Chase and Worldpay. The Payments Architect will collaborate closely with product teams, engineering, and leadership to innovate in the payments space, streamline processes, and ensure full compliance with regulatory standards. This position requires deep expertise in payment technologies, PayFac operations, and a strong ability to deliver complex technical solutions in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
· Design and architect scalable, resilient, and secure payment processing systems that enable Wellfit’s PayFac operations and support long-term business objectives.
· Lead the technical strategy and roadmap for payment architecture, ensuring alignment with business objectives and product development goals.
· Collaborate with key payment partners, such as Chase and Worldpay, to optimize transaction flows, settlement processes, and reconciliation workflows.
· Ensure the security and compliance of payment systems, particularly with PCI-DSS, data protection standards, and PayFac-specific regulatory requirements.
· Drive the integration and management of multiple payment partners, ensuring seamless transaction processing and settlement.
· Work closely with the DevOps and infrastructure teams to ensure the payment systems' scalability, high availability, and optimal performance.
· Lead the design and implementation of payment APIs for internal and external use, enabling smooth integration with various financial partners and Wellfit platforms.
· Drive innovation by exploring emerging payment technologies and trends, such as real-time payments, alternative payment methods, and open banking.
· Oversee the PayFac operational architecture, ensuring efficient onboarding, KYC/AML compliance, and risk management across payment processes.
· Lead architectural discussions and technical workshops with cross-functional teams, including product, security, and DevOps, to ensure alignment with the payments strategy.
· Provide mentorship and guidance to engineers and developers on payment-related projects, ensuring best practices in coding, security, and system design.
· Monitor and troubleshoot system performance, conducting root cause analysis and implementing long-term fixes to improve payment reliability and speed
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; a master’s degree is a plus.
· 8+ years of experience in software development, with at least 4+ years focused on payment systems architecture or PayFac operations.
· Expertise in designing and implementing payment systems, particularly in the context of payment facilitators.
· Strong understanding of payment processing, settlement, and reconciliation, particularly with partners like Chase and Worldpay.
· Deep knowledge of payment security standards, including PCI-DSS compliance, tokenization, and encryption.
· Experience with PayFac-specific compliance and operational needs, such as KYC/AML, risk management, and transaction monitoring.
· Solid understanding of cloud platforms (Azure preferred), microservices architecture, and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
· Proven experience working with .NET and SQL in designing, developing, and scaling payment solutions.
· Proven ability to architect scalable, high-availability, and secure payment systems that process large volumes of transactions.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to design and troubleshoot complex transaction systems.
· Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred:
· Experience working with payment partners like Chase, Worldpay, or other major financial institutions.
· Familiarity with emerging fintech trends, such as real-time payments, alternative payment methods, and open banking.
· Knowledge of fintech-specific regulatory requirements, including KYC/AML, PSD2, and GDPR.
· Experience in the healthcare industry, particularly with patient payment systems or healthcare financing solutions.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $185,000.00 - $220,000.00 per year
