Big-D Construction, a National General Contractor of award-winning projects built by exceptional people, has a Senior Data Solutions Engineer opportunity located in Salt Lake City, UT.

Position Summary:

A pivotal role in leveraging data-driven insights to enhance decision-making processes, optimize operations, and support innovation across various construction projects. Supervise and collaborate in designing and implementing end-to-end data solutions that address the unique challenges and requirements of the construction industry. Guide a team of experienced data professionals, ensuring effective communication, and project delivery.

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a related field.
  • At least 6 years of experience in designing and implementing complex data solutions, in a lead role preferred.
  • Proficient in languages (e.g., Python, SQL) and data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, TensorFlow).
  • Certified in agile or scrum methodologies.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Azure Data Engineer Associates, Azure Data Science Associate, Google Professional Engineer, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) are favorable.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Solution Design and Architecture:
    • Work closely with the data team to design and architect the end-to-end data solutions that align with business objectives and technical requirements.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical specifications and architectural blueprints.
    • Design scalable, reliable, and high-performance data architectures, including data ingestion, storage, processing, and consumption layers.
    • Data Engineering and Infrastructure.
    • Collaborate with the data team to implement data engineering pipelines and infrastructure to support data ingestion, storage, processing, and analysis.
    • Suggest appropriate data technologies, platforms, and tools based on project requirements and industry best practices.
    • Optimize data pipelines and infrastructure for performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Data Modeling and Analysis:
    • Provide expertise in data modeling techniques and methodologies to ensure effective representation and organization of data assets.
    • Collaborate data team to design and implement data models for analytics, machine learning, and AI applications.
    • Perform data analysis to uncover insights, trends, and patterns that drive decision-making and business value.
  • AI Development and Integration:
    • Collaborate in the development and integration of AI and machine learning models into data solutions to enable intelligent automation and decision support.
    • Work closely with data team to build AI prototypes, build, and deploy machine learning models at scale.
    • Ensure seamless integration of AI capabilities into existing data architectures and applications.
  • Project Management and Leadership:
    • Provide technical leadership and guidance to cross-functional teams throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Define project plans, milestones, and deliverables, and manage project execution to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.
    • Mentor and coach junior team members, fostering a culture of learning, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Quality Assurance and Governance:
    • Assist in establishing data quality standards, governance policies, and best practices to ensure the integrity, reliability, and security of data assets.
    • Conduct regular audits and assessments to monitor compliance with data governance policies and regulatory requirements.
    • As required by enterprise practices implementation of data security measures and access controls to protect sensitive information and mitigate risks.
  • Stakeholder Communication and Collaboration:
    • Communicate complex technical concepts and solutions to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and understandable manner.
    • Collaborate with business leaders, data team, and other stakeholders to align priorities and drive consensus on technical decisions.
    • Act as a trusted advisor to senior management, providing insights and recommendations on data strategy, architecture, and innovation.
  • Additional responsibilities and duties as assigned by the manager.
