Position Title: Sales Engineer - Building Automation Systems
Salary: Base plus sales commission
Position Summary: If you’re looking for a role that will combine your technical skills and sales experience, then look no further. We are seeking an experienced sales engineer, who will work closely with our project development, engineering, and installation teams, to identify sales opportunities for building automation system projects. In this role, you will work closely with building owners, mechanical contractors, and other project stakeholders. You will have a proven ability to build and manage long-term customer relationships within each of your accounts.
In this role, you will be an integral part of our building automation division and you’ll work alongside our building automation team. You will be responsible for supporting the effective design of control projects including input into control drawings and sequences of operation, programming, and equipment specifications.
To be effective, you’ll ensure all work performed is in compliance with state, local, and federal legal requirements and operates on the job with the highest of ethics. You’ll develop practices and processes to ensure cost effective sales engineering while providing consistent delivery and customer satisfaction. We are looking for someone who will serve as an expert in application engineering that works effectively across all departments including project development, operations, and engineering.
Job Overview:
- Manage and grow your assigned territory. Responsible for identifying opportunities, and account management for the building automation department. Ensure that the solutions offered for a given opportunity ensure successful project implementation, compliance with standards, and achieves highest customer satisfaction.
- Identify and recommend bid opportunities and take the lead in bid preparation, and customer negotiation until handover to our BAS team; Drive effective communication throughout all stages of the sales process. Perform take-offs and bid projects.
- Understand the technical & financial context of our customer’s needs.
- Forecast and ensure clear visibility for the coming months of his pipeline of opportunities. Secure purchase order according to the quotation provided by the tendering team.
- Develop an understanding of utility incentive programs to maximize customer benefit.
- Conduct site assessments and provide customers with recommendations for retrofits, upgrades, and/or enhancements to existing equipment.
- Generate a high level of activity to adequately fulfill the sales pipeline and manage opportunities from new leads to close.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of the construction/HVAC industry, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems, and other building sub-systems.
- Basic understanding of mechanical HVAC/plumbing building systems
- Excellent initiative, and interpersonal communications skills; able to work with coworkers and clients, ability to handle a variety of situations encountered during the implementation process, discipline to work with limited supervision.
- Ability to read project specifications and "blueprint" drawings.
- Eager and committed to working in a fast-paced energy services company
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, related discipline or equivalent in the field experience
- A minimum of 1-3 years’ successful sales experience in HVAC or building automation system industry
- Able to use conventional business tools including Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint, etc.
- Ability to work a full-time schedule
- Valid drivers' license, available for local travel
