Summary:

The Senior Sales Representative – Opportunity Sales is responsible for maintaining throughput of distressed or obsolete inventory. This includes finding buyers, negotiating prices, order sizes, and delivery; completing the deal, and making sure payment is received correctly by the accounts receivable department. This role will focus on building relationships with existing customers and identifying new sales opportunities with new customers. This role will have a unique opportunity to work cross functionally with Category Management, operations, and the sales team from multiple channels as this person is responsible for sales of closeouts, excess, challenged and opportunity inventory. This position will be based in Seattle, Washington at the Trident Support Center.

  • Sells out excess and short-dated inventory housed within processing plants and distribution centers; donates and/or recycles inventory that has not sold.
  • In conjunction with management, develops and executes sales plans that will align with overall strategy to drive new business.
  • Independently prospects and develops new and existing relationships with customers to find the best use and sale of specific inventory.
  • Drives volume and margin growth aligned with corporate goals and expectations.
  • Aligns with revenue growth and customer development initiatives
  • Increases the sell through rate of discounted inventory and turns potential waste into direct value recovery.
  • Effectively communicates with internal and external customers and stakeholders.
  • Delivers effective product presentations and business reviews.
  • Negotiates pricing and coordinates on-boarding of new customers.
  • Partners with other internal departments (Customer Service, Category Management, Credit, Finance, Supply Chain/Forecasting/Demand Planning, Operations, QA and Sales Support) to efficiently and accurately determine inventory levels and conduct sales transactions in a dynamic environment.
  • Prepares periodic sales reports showing sales volumes, potential sales, and areas of opportunity.
  • Periodically travels to support customer presentations and business reviews.


This is a salaried exempt position with an annualized salary range of $78,000 to $90,000.

Minimum Requirements

Required Qualifications (education, years of experience, KSAs)

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in sales, supply chain or related field
  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Superior customer service, excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to travel up to 10-20% of the time.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Must be a self-starter, work well independently and with a team.
  • Strong Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) experience
  • A valid driver’s license.

  • Previous work experience within food manufacturing.

  • Previous CRM experience
  • Skilled at building and maintaining cross-functional relationships internally and at the customer level.
  • Proficient in developing and delivering presentations in both one-on-one and group environments.


Work environment (includes travel/on-call):

This job takes place in a typical office environment: temperature controlled with adequate lighting and has moderate noise.

This role will require occasional travel across North America up to 20%.

Physical demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use a computer for long periods and often sit at a desk in an office environment.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.

The employee moves objects regularly up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds.
