Associate Manager Trade Marketing

The Role reports to the Director of Sales Operations & Trade Marketing and is a key driver of trade marketing activities and sales planning. This is a strategic and tactical position that plays an integral role in World Finer Foods’ Go To Market strategy. The successful candidate is analytical, action-oriented, and able to work well cross-functionally with sales, marketing & finance.

Trade Marketing at World Finer Foods:

The Trade Marketing team is a part of the Sales Ops team at World Finer Foods. We are responsible for optimizing our promotional spend. Working collaboratively with the sales and marketing teams, we develop the annual sales plans and promotional guidelines, then evaluate both the effectiveness of that spend and identify opportunities for spend. Our goal is to increase awareness of our brands by driving trial, distribution, and sales. The team also leverages category and consumer insights to develop compelling fact-based selling stories.

Position Responsibilities and Capabilities:

  • Trade Marketing Analysis and Optimization – Trade Promotion Debrief Presentations
    • Analyze past Brand and competitors’ trade promotions to determine ideal timing, depth and frequency of future promotions.
    • Analyze trade spend to ensure trade dollars are optimized
    • Develop data & insight led recommendations to improve promotion performance
    • Develop and present trade marketing debrief presentations to key stakeholders including client brands and senior leadership
    • Convert insights into action by partnering with sales and marketing to action approved recommendations
  • Trade Marketing Planning
    • Assist with annual plan development and calendar of promotional activities by Brand and Category
    • Develop the guidelines, smart docs and guard rails by brand and segment, for distributor and retailer promotional plan development
    • Analyze competitive promotional pricing and pricing activity in line with programming requirements and to ensure they are within Brand pricing guardrails.
    • Highlight financial and non-financial success metrics based on previous performance, along with suggested program improvements.
    • Track, analyze and report on promotional activities performed, level of spending by promo by customer by channel, evaluating key program results, leveraging cross-functional teams as needed.
    • Strong understanding of trade promotion within a distributor model and direct to retail model, with experience planning and managing OIs, MCBs, and Scanbacks.
  • Advancing Category Initiatives through Analytics
    • Proactively uncover opportunities through collaborating with category development, tracking category, consumer, shopper, market, and customer information
    • Develop fact-based recommendations, selling tools and presentations
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously within a fast-paced environment, with a high degree of independence and resilience
  • Be an expert on data – Syndicated Data, Internal Sales Data, etc. Ownership of performance reporting and scorecarding
  • Collaborating While Managing Projects
    • Work closely with sales and cross-functional teams to implement shopper and category insights. Ability & experience to listen and draw out feedback from RSMs and Marketing teams.
    • Driving strong alignment and partnerships internally will help you aim for excellence every day.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree. Master’s degree preferred
  • 3-5+ years of experience in trade marketing/ promotional management/ category management/ insights strongly preferred
  • Experience with Syndicated Data sources (IRI Circana, Nielsen, SPINS, etc)
  • Excellent organizational skills- self-starter with ability to meet deadlines and balance competing priorities
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent listening skills and ability to glean feedback and insights from sales & marketing
  • Proven ability to synthesize information, form rational conclusions, and deliver recommendations leveraging facts
  • Excellent presentation skills and experience presenting to senior leadership, sales and key stakeholders
  • Interest in and knack for training sales and marketing in the art and science of TM.
  • Experience in developing dashboards a plus
