Job Description
This critical role is responsible for strategic planning and day to day operations of the resort sales & marketing department, including the creation and management of marketing, advertising and sales plans as well as programs and associated budgets. The selected candidate will also participate in total resort management as a member of the hotel Leadership Committee.
The selected candidate will possess solid knowledge of the golf industry and the key drivers that inspire destination golfers and have passion for creating exceptional golfer and guest experiences.
Positions reporting to this position includes: Director of Sales, Sales Managers, Marketing Manager
Essential Functions:
- Directs the overall sales and marketing efforts for the resort and the team members who work in those functional areas.
- Manages overall department human resource efforts. Recruits, hires and supports training, motivation and retention for all team members. Conducts regular performance/salary reviews. Coaches, counsels, and develops individuals to enhance productivity and growth.
- Prepares, analyzes and reviews forecasts, business plans, and a variety of internal/external reports.
- Develops, recommends, implements and manages the department’s annual budget, business plans and actions.
- Develop and continually enhance relationship with internal and external customers, industry/community = organizations, peers, professional associations and the media.
- Survey, review and analyze competition, market trends, customer needs and comments in an effort to develop/modify new plans, actions and programs.
Non-Essential Functions:
- Performs special projects and other tasks as assigned.
- Participates in task force and committees as required.
Knowledge and Skills:
Education: Four year college degree or equivalent education/experience required.
Experience: Must possess a proven track record of success in achieving revenue objectives; proven ability to recruit, motivate and train sales team.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to perform critical analysis.
- Extensive knowledge of marketing, negotiating and sales procedures associated with the golf and hotel industry.
- Excellent written skills sufficient to produce sales and marketing communication that properly reflects the Streamsong brand Image.
- Excellent spoken and presentation skills
- Considerable ability to listen effectively.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as a team.
- Ability to delegate, manage and organize complex projects and establish priorities consistent with department and resort objectives.
- Ability to effectively deal with department heads, customers and team members, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet and work effectively under time and resource constraints
