Position Summary
The Calgary Stampede – BMO Centre is seeking a Sales Manager with a proven track record in sales in the Convention, Meeting and Major Event Industry. Reporting to the Director, BMO Business Development; this position will proactively seek out new business in order to confirm major conventions, meetings, trade and consumer shows, and special events for the BMO Centre. The Sales Manager is responsible for researching, identifying, and targeting potential clients and marketing of the BMO Centre and services for year round business in order to achieve sales goals.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Provide expertise and excellent guest service to internal and external guests.
- Research, identify and target potential clients for year-round business to increase facility utilization, revenues and profitability.
- Manage the acquisition of new clientele, including meeting with potential clients to promote the Calgary Stampede venues, attending industry events and participating in industry trade and consumer shows.
- Producing event proposals and sales presentations.
- Negotiating detailed facility contracts
- Maintain awareness of industry trends, pricing levels and general policies as they relate to our business.
- Develop and maintain affiliations with industry related associations, industry partners and other facilities.
- Work closely with industry organizations (Tourism Calgary/Meetings and Conventions Calgary, Travel Alberta, Calgary Economic Development, Business Events Canada and the Calgary Hotel Association) to develop selling synergies for the City of Calgary and the Calgary Stampede – BMO Centre
- Liaise with Event Management and other internal departments to develop best business practices for the purpose of increasing revenues and profitability and increasing levels of guest satisfaction.
- Ability to travel when required
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be proactive, optimistic and have worked in a dynamic environment where they have experience delivering on multiple priorities and will hold the following qualifications:
- Provide excellent guest service and consistently demonstrate professionalism.
- Minimum 5 years of related sales experience.
- Exceptional communication and time management skills with the ability to prioritize.
- Must demonstrate social awareness and communicate with tact and diplomacy.
- Ability to develop, motivate and work towards a common goal and vision.
- Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Basic accounting skills.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
- A working knowledge of Ungerboeck (EBMS) system is an asset.
