Austin Surf Club is seeking an SVP, Development to join the Development Department.
Key Responsibilities
- Directs all aspects of the vertical development process, working closely with the vertical construction team.
- Contributing project board member, overseeing project development budgets and timelines.
- Site planning & design, preparation of detailed development schedules & timelines, developing cost estimates and budgets.
- Completing comprehensive due diligence of each prospective site (including obtaining and reviewing all soils and environmental reports, surveys, utility/acoustical/& other studies as necessary).
- Oversight of the entire amenities construction and development process (including obtaining all planning / zoning and other necessary city and state approvals).
- Oversight of residential construction initiatives, design coordination, work closely with selected homebuilders on execution.
- Overseeing design process, internal design team, directing architects, interior designers and other consultants.
- Completion of all project bidding and bid qualification.
- General Contractor selection & contracting.
- Overseeing the entire permit process.
- Working with executive leadership on all projects to ensure all projects are on track and target for completion.
- Ensure that clear direction and guidance is provided to staff, consultants and contract relationships to successfully achieve project goals
- Collaborate with various departments, outside consultants and contractors throughout the development process to ensure timely completion of all objectives and milestones.
- Ensure that goals are clear and prioritized throughout the organization
- Exude model leadership by maintaining a climate that attracts, retains and motivates a diverse staff of high quality individuals
- Develop individual goals for all staff members and evaluate progress through annual performance reviews. Provide mentoring and assist in the professional development of the project team
- Engage professionally with other department heads, including the VP of Club Operations, General Manager, Director of Sales and Project Chief Financial Officer
Skills and Qualifications
- 10+ years of vertical construction development experience
- Full cycle experience and can lead and manage multiple large projects simultaneously
- Must be a team player and work well with the management, vendors, city officials and other daily contacts
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage
- Proven track record of successfully delivering construction projects on time, within budget, and meeting quality standards
- Strong knowledge of vertical construction methodologies, building codes, and safety regulations
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders
- Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a strategic mindset
- Strong financial acumen and experience managing construction budgets and cost control
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proficiency in project management software and other relevant tools

- Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.
