About the role:
The Sales Manager at Custom Industrial Products plays a vital role in shaping and innovating the future of the sales department within the Material Handling and Vertical Reciprocating Conveyor (VRC) industry. This position holds responsibility for strategic leadership and management of the Sales Department, with a focus on supporting the evolution of the department's future direction. The Sales Manager is dedicated to delivering prompt, courteous, and highly informed service to internal teams, clients, and customers. Their mission is to work collaboratively with the Sales Department to develop strategies that ensure success across all departmental roles.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive Revenue Growth: Oversee and lead all sales revenue streams, including Standard and Specialty VRCs, within the Material Handling and VRC industry.
- Set Clear Goals: Define company-wide sales objectives and ensure alignment with organizational priorities. Establish individual performance targets for sales team members.
- Monitor and Accountability: Create and maintain detailed reports to track sales team performance and ensure accountability for actions.
- Strategic Sales Initiatives: Develop and implement innovative strategies to consistently exceed sales targets.
- Lead by Example: Actively engage in direct selling when necessary to support the team and achieve goals.
- Market Insight: Regularly analyze market trends and competitor activity to inform and adapt sales strategies.
- Relationship Building: Cultivate and maintain key internal and external relationships that enhance the company’s leadership within the industry.
- Comprehensive Reporting: Provide detailed reports on sales budgets with thorough analysis of performance versus targets, making necessary adjustments to align with goals.
- Interdepartmental Synergy: Foster effective communication across departments to ensure a smooth workflow from Sales through to Shipping
- Candidate Requirements:
- Proven experience managing a sales department, preferably within material handling, manufacturing, or the construction industry.
- Demonstrated ability to set and achieve ambitious sales targets and quotas.
- Hands-on approach: Willingness to engage directly in sales efforts.
- Financial acumen to manage and optimize sales budget effectively.
- Advanced excel use; i.e. pivot tables, macros, and formulas
- CRM experience required, preferably Salesforce.
- Market awareness and competitor analysis expertise.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Adept at building and maintaining key relationships, both internally and externally.
- Collaborative mindset, working seamlessly with other department heads to ensure process efficiency.
- Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required.
