POSITION: Sales Manager
SUMMARY:
The Sales Manager represents the Hilton Miami Downtown in the development of new customer relationships while maintaining existing relationships with assigned accounts and consistently striving to maximize revenue in rooms, public space, food and beverage and ancillary products and services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Represent hotel by soliciting, responding to and negotiating with persons requiring group accommodations
- Represent hotel in significant interactions dealing with customers relative to sales and operational questions, concerns, and issues.
- Negotiate contracts with customers and commission agreements with third party agencies.
- Initiate the preparation of proposals and/or contracts to advise prospective customers primarily of the hotel guest rooms, but also meeting space and/or banquet date, space and rate availability. Develop and quote prices for same.
- Engage in outside sales activities to discuss business opportunities and entertain customers in local and assigned markets (percentage of travel dependent on specific market).
- Direct site visits and H.O.S.T. programs for respective accounts and participates in tradeshows, industry and customer events.
- Attend weekly sales departmental meeting and other scheduled meetings to support business operations, e.g., tentative review, lost business review, group-pick up, etc.
- Conduct site inspections with potential customers, visiting guest rooms, meeting space and banquet facilities, as well as other hotel facilities.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills or ability.
- Active solicitation, to include prospecting, to confirm and book business in current and futures room revenue goals- Travel and Tradeshow attendance in designated market is required.
- Strong working knowledge of Delphi systems
- Strong working knowledge of Speed RFP, Event and Meeting Broker
- Minimum of 2 years in a Sales position role.
- Hilton working relations with Key Global Sales leaders and accounts a strong plus.
- Strong working relations with West Coast Market and LATAM, International Market.
- Able to analyze business needs and property/asset requirements to qualify business.
- Strong client/customer relations.
- Ability to close business.
- Ability to retain business
- Ability to uncover business opportunities from prospecting.
- Bilingual – English and Spanish, a plus.
- Travel: 10-20%
WORK EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Four-year college degree preferred, however, any combination of education and training with hotel sales may be considered.
- Minimum three (3) years hotel sales experience required.
- Experience handling the International sales segment is preferred.
- Experience handling groups is required.
- Delphi knowledge preferred.
