Position Overview
As the Heat Treating Sales Engineer, you will serve as the technical expert and liaison between our clients and internal teams. Your role will involve understanding customer needs, preparing accurate quotes, and helping to expand our client base. This role is non-remote and based at our Fridley, MN headquarters, with travel opportunities to our Indianapolis facility and customer sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Consultation: Collaborate with current and prospective clients to assess their heat treatment needs and propose tailored solutions.
- Sales Support: Prepare and follow up on quotes, generating a robust pipeline of new business opportunities.
- Technical Expertise: Assist in creating presentations and documents that explain our products and services clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Problem Solving: Provide top-notch customer support, resolving any issues with efficiency and expertise.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with purchasing, management, and internal teams to ensure seamless order processing and delivery.
- Reporting: Track account status and new business leads, reporting regularly to the Director of Sales & Marketing.
What We're Looking For
- Heat Treating Expertise: Strong knowledge of the heat treating industry with hands-on experience, allowing you to fully understand client needs and recommend the best solutions.
- Sales Experience: Proven track record in sales, with the ability to build relationships, close deals, and grow business opportunities.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Technical Knowledge: Ability to apply engineering and technical principles to the sales process.
- Attention to Detail: Highly organized with a strong focus on accuracy and detail.
- Flexibility: Willingness to travel to support our Indianapolis facility and client sites.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field (preferred).
- 3+ years of experience in the heat treating industry (required).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Work Schedule
- Monday-Thursday: 9-hour shifts
- Friday: 4-hour shift
- Flexible scheduling available.
