POSITION TITLE: Sales Application Engineer
DEPARTMENT: 7130 – Systems Sales
REPORTS TO: Director of Application Engineering
LOCATION: Corporate Office (Middleburg Heights, Ohio)
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY:
The applications engineer serves as the primary interface between Verantis and its customers throughout the consultative sales process. This position requires a strong combination of technical expertise, salesmanship, and communication skills to promote and sell Verantis engineered systems and products. The applications engineer is responsible for the validation and formalization of customer requests, preliminary design activities, generation of estimates and proposal documents.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required. Chemical Engineering preferred.
Experience: Applications or project engineering experience in air pollution control, thermal treatment, or related field is considered a plus. Previous experience in a sales role is required.
Skills and Additional Requirements: Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to utilize CRM (customer relationship manager) software. This individual must be detail oriented with strong organizational skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well both alone and in a team environment.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and maintain customer relationships through direct communication and utilization of fundamental engineering principles to assess and respond to customer needs and wants.
- Understand and comfortably navigate the sales cycle while managing client interaction.
- Provide technical expertise to customers, manufacturer’s representatives, and engineering organizations within agreed upon deadlines.
- Adapt and flex sales and estimating strategy on a case-by-case basis in order to put Verantis in the strongest position to secure orders.
- Perform preliminary design activities, incorporating mass and heat transfer theory and product line selection.
- Generate accurate and timely estimates and proposals with the core focus of winning orders.
- Conduct proactive engagement with customers to ascertain Verantis’ competitive standing and chances to secure orders.
- Identify the “why” throughout customer interaction, clearly communicate findings to other members of the organization, and leverage findings to win orders.
- Travel as required (20%)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
