Base Salary Range: $45k - $60k, depending on qualifications and experience

JOB OVERVIEW
VCT Group is seeking a talented and detail-oriented CAD Designer to join our dynamic
team. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills in various CAD software and
a creative approach to design. This role involves creating detailed drawings and models
that support our solar canopy projects. Reporting to the Product Manager, the CAD
Designer will collaborate with engineers, project managers and project coordinators to
ensure that designs meet specifications and project requirements.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Develop detailed 2D and 3D models using Rhinoceros3D (Rhino 7)
- Create technical drawings for our solar canopy projects including analysis of
requirements in a purchase order, municipal bylaws, and building code. Ensure CAD
designs are accurate, precise, and meet the specifications for engineering and
manufacturing hand-off. (example: site plans, foundation detail drawings, changes
based on site requirements, purlin schedules, etc)
- Review designs for feasibility, functionality, and compliance with safety standards.
- Create Bill of Materials' for all structural components, and work with our Project
- Design, and prototype custom components in CAD for needs of the business
(example-inverter mounting, EV charging, etc.), and work with our Project
Coordinator for procurement
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather project requirements and provide

- Work with external engineers to find alternatives based on availability/feasibility of
- Prepare shop drawings for fabrication and manufacture of components
- Prepare construction documents and specifications for building projects.
- Produce animations and renderings for presentations to support Business
- Maintain organized records of all design files and revisions.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5,000 hours of CAD (2D drafting and/or 3D modelling)
- Proficient in Rhino; or transferable experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Fusion360,
- Strong understanding of CAD principles and best practices in design.
- Ability to create detailed schematics and layouts for various applications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- A degree or certification in CAD or a related field is preferred but not required.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND QUALIFICATIONS THAT WOULD BE AN ASSET:
- Construction experience
- Experience with power tools
- Experience with 3D printing
- Forklift Operator certification
- Understanding of finite element analysis
