Job Description

BASIC PURPOSE: Manages sales operations to ensure the attainment of hotel revenue, profit, and customer satisfaction goals; negotiates group business and coordinates the execution of the business with other departments.

Solicit, book, plan and coordinate meetings/functions while maximizing the banquet space to meet/exceed sales goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Solicit, negotiate and book new and repeat business through efforts (outside sales, calls, telemarking, mailings, network, etc..) while maximizing banquet space to meet/exceed revenue goals.

Participates in the development of the hotel’s sales and marketing strategies.

Execute a territorial marketing strategy to capture the maximum amount of revenue and meet/exceed sales goals.

Establishes, maintains, and increases client base; maintains regular contact with clients; conducts tours of the hotel and its facilities; entertains potential clients in accordance with hotel policies; responds to telephone and walk-in inquiries.

Plan, up sell and detail the meeting/function with the client including: space requirements, times, equipment, menus, themes/decorations, etc.. Complete the contracts, prepare the appropriate paperwork, coordinate with the appropriate areas in the hotel, resolve any issues, complaints and problems to ensure quality delivery and customer satisfaction.

Prepare status and period and reports to keep management abreast of activities.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of corporate/hotel procedures and products and the competition’s products, strengths and weaknesses to continually improve sales strategies and the achievement of goals.

Ensures maximum occupancy on a daily basis; interfaces with front office to follow-up on group bookings and maintain accurate, current information.

Assists front office staff with resolution of guest problems/complaints as needed.

Performs other duties as assigned by manager.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Participate in communication and professional organizations to maintain high visibility and promote sales.

2. Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned. Participate in task forces and committees as required.

Knowledge and Skills:

Education:

More than two years of post high school education, but less than a degree from a four year college

Experience:

Experience required by positions from one to two full years ofemployment in a related position with this company or other organization(s).

Skills and Abilities:

Requires thorough knowledge of the practices and procedures of the catering, food & beverage and hospitality professions.

Requires knowledge of the hotel’s and procedures and the ability to determine course of action based on these guidelines.

Must poses communication skills in terms of ability to negotiate, convince and recommendations.

Proficient on Delphi FDC, OnQ PMS, Meeting Broker, Lanyon, MS Outlook, MS Word, and MS Excel.

Ability to drive to outside sales calls.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26.00 - $29.00 per hour
