REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
The Vice President, Product Management reports to the President, Residential Home Construction (RHC) Division.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Vice President, Product Management is responsible for developing the business unit product portfolio strategy and ensuring its execution via direct and indirect leadership of stakeholder functions. Such strategy will be anchored to the overall goals of ECI and the RHC Division, and will drive exceptional results in support of the business’s strategic initiatives and value creation targets.

The role will lead and participate as a critical leadership team member in leveraging both organic and acquisitive business unit growth. The VP effectively balances, and demonstrates, an ability to operate at the most strategic levels within the business while also leading the Product Management team to research, analyze, strategize, plan, and execute. The VP will operate as a senior member of the RHC Division leadership team, and also work closely with peers in other business units, as well as members of the ECI corporate Senior Leadership Team. The role is expected to lead the business in understanding macro-economics, industry, and competitive trends and develop strategies that enable significant business unit growth.

The VP is responsible for developing comprehensive product portfolio strategies, including product lifecycle management, portfolio rationalization, and investment allocation. The role will lead the Product Management team to deliver annual and multi-year business strategy plans. The role is also responsible for identifying opportunities for incremental strategic investment and developing comprehensive and compelling business cases to justify such investment.

The VP, Product Management will work with all cross-functional senior leaders to ensure the business and product strategy is executed to plan, and will have an especially close working relationship with the VP of Product Development. The role will identify and raise strategic ideas, opportunities, concerns, and risks through participation in all business unit planning activities as well as comprehensive monthly business unit and functional performance and KPI reporting.

The VP will advance the Product Management methodology and processes, as well as develop the members of the Product Management team on a continual basis.

The VP, Product Management position reports to the President of ECI’s RHC Division, with indirect reporting relationship with the ECI Corporate Chief Product Officer. Based in our Mount Laurel, NJ office or remotely, this position requires 10-25% travel between various ECI offices, as well as for trade show attendance, customer conferences, customer visits and other role-specific activities.

The ongoing responsibilities:
  • Continuously hold the Division’s strategic growth drivers and value creation goals at the forefront of focus and structure all efforts to maximize attainment of such.
  • Lead a team of Product Managers, Product Owners, and Business Analysts.
  • Grow a culture within the Product Management team of innovation, collaboration, market and customer-centricity, and delivering exceptional outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively as a member of the RHC Division’s senior leadership team to lead creation of business and product strategy and requirements for the division, at portfolio and individual product levels.
  • Participate in the identification of potential acquisition targets. Evaluate and make recommendations regarding potential acquisition targets. Help lead the integration of acquired businesses into the RHC Division.
  • Play a proactive leadership role in portfolio planning to ensure investments align with the strategic company direction and customer needs. Work closely with multiple development teams from product initiation to delivery.
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of target market and competitive landscape trends and opportunities, and incorporate into decisions and recommendations to grow and solidify ECI RHC’s industry leadership, and grow the business.
  • Collaborate with the Product Development and Customer Success teams to explore, innovate and design solutions for the suite of products and partner product offerings.
  • Partner with engineering and architecture to research new technology directions in the ever-evolving homebuilding industry and recommend resulting strategies to the organization.
  • Effectively act as “the face” of the RHC Division’s products and strategy to internal and external audiences.
  • Lead voice of customer strategic initiatives and transform customer input into business and product strategy.
  • Collaborate with cross functional stakeholders to ensure release readiness across multiple products and teams.
  • Consistently deliver innovative and strategic thought leadership in all aspects of the role, that is recognized by staff, customers, and management. Success of this role will be determined by a combination of individual and team contributions, as well as by overall impact on ECI and the market.
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in progressively responsible positions in software product management and will be technically grounded but with a highly developed commercial mindset. The ideal candidate’s experience will include leading a Homebuilding software product management team for a growing commercial software company.
The final candidate will have many of the following experiences, skills, and personal attributes.
  • Experience in a similar role (Vice President, Senior Director or Director of Product Management) at a multi-product software company with domain experience in the residential construction space; experience with acquisitive businesses is a strong preference.
  • Proven track record designing, shaping, and bringing successful enterprise software products to market. Specifically, expertise building/launching successful B2B SaaS products/suites.
  • Demonstrated experience migrating legacy products to the cloud and building and launching net new cloud solutions.
  • A track record of being a product innovator; able to develop and articulate a strategic product vision beyond incremental feature enhancements. Quantitative and analytical experience with the ability to use data to predict/influence user behavior and drive product feature decisions.
  • Must have managed products as a ‘business owner’ owning both go to market strategies and solution requirements definition. Experience in driving the growth of a product/portfolio on a global basis is desired.
  • A track record of directly leading, managing, and mentoring a high-performing team of product managers, product owners, and business analysts.
  • A strong understanding of Agile (Scrum, Kanban) and use of portfolio management and software development tools for metrics and performance management.
  • A strong understanding of the product development lifecycle, with experience strengthening the PDLC in a matrixed organization.
  • Demonstrated success in cross-organizational collaboration and matrix project management for product release readiness and portfolio-wide product strategy. Strong technical competency enabling close collaboration with a product development organization.
  • Well-developed product management skills, from requirements gathering through documentation to release; good intuition for the right balance between necessary process and agility of execution. Experience working on software requirements for interdependent suite of products is strongly desired.
  • Proven ability to perform in a collaborative, team-oriented environment with a strong customer orientation (internal and external).
  • A bright and creative mind with highly developed leadership and interpersonal skills, quantitative analytical abilities, and superior communication skills.
  • Possess a sense of urgency and the ability to lead a team to exhibit the same urgency.
  • Must be impeccably honest and ethical. A successful executive who is smart, passionate, energetic, and results focused.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor-level degree in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Engineering, Computer Science, or Business Management
  • Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) or Technology Management is a plus
  • Certification in Pragmatic Marketing and relevant Product Management methodologies
  • Participation in industry or Product Management groups a plus
