Job Summary:

The Safety, Security & Compliance (SSC) team is a small and agile team that enables Safety, Security, and regulatory compliance (quality) to function well across the entire business. The goal is to enable NAVBLUE to serve its customers with products, solutions and services in the most efficient way possible, and while also respecting the highest required standards.

The Safety, Security and Compliance (Software) Lead is part of the Safety, Security, and Compliance (SSC) Team within the Operational Excellence Department. It may take on several different tasks within the team depending on capability, interest, and the business's needs. The SSC Lead is key in spearheading the quality assurance efforts within Navblue especially in the software development teams. This role is crucial in ensuring the delivery of high-quality software products that meet our customers' expectations.


Responsibilities:

The SSC Lead is required to support one or more business areas (process owners and delegates, operational teams, and others) on one or more of the following topics:

  • INTERNAL AUDIT MANAGEMENT
  • REQUIREMENT/COMPLIANCE MANAGEMENT
  • RISK MANAGEMENT
  • CHANGE MANAGEMENT
  • TESTING
  • DEFECT TRACKING
  • CODING STANDARDS

It is key for the success of the SSC Lead role to take a proactive and collaborative approach with stakeholders impacted by these topics, to ensure a de-siloed approach, adherence, alignment and transparency across functions and processes.

Concerning the above topics (one or several) under the Business' responsibility, the SSC Lead is expected to:

  • Conduct regular audits to assess the quality of software deliverables and adherence to industry standards.
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions to enhance quality.
  • Drive or support regular activities (robust quality assurance processes, including defect tracking, risk management, and change control)
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
  • Work closely with agile teams to understand user stories, acceptance criteria, and sprint goals.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies, such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Oversight of software quality control including:
    • Execution of test cases, ensuring adherence to test plans and quality standards.
    • Analysis of test results, identify defects, and track them through to resolution.
    • Generate clear and concise test reports, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
  • Drive or support specific improvement projects
  • Drive an effective and efficient Integrated Management System

In general, the SSC Lead is expected to:

  • Be proactive, collaborative, and open-minded
  • Be diligent and structured
  • Promote agile methodologies and champion collaboration across different parts/functions of the company
  • Support with cultivating the culture and mindsets within Navblue to achieve the highest level of Operational Excellence
  • Other duties as prescribed by management.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Experience as a Quality Assurance Lead or similar role in an agile software development environment.
  • Strong understanding of software development life cycles (SDLC) and testing methodologies.
  • Knowledge &Experience in an AS9100 and/or ISO27001 environment including previous experience with internal auditing
  • Knowledge of DO-178 and DO-330
  • Experience in the aviation industry is recommended, sufficient to understand the impact of Safety & Quality on commercial airline flight operations
  • Knowledge and/or experience of Risk & Opportunity Management
  • Knowledge of Lean and Agile principles, process mapping, and VSM
  • Knowledge and/or experience of Change Management
  • Excellent English communication skills (written, visual & verbal)
  • 3+ years prior work experience in a professional/office environment

Demonstrated Soft Skills:

  • Effective time management skills; capable of managing multiple competing priorities and meeting deadlines in a dynamic technical environment
  • Analytical and problem-solving and combine a detail-oriented approach when necessary, with pragmatism
  • Strong written/verbal communication, skills: capable of understanding what information the audience needs to know and communicating it in an effective manner
  • Transverse project management; capable of delegating & monitoring tasks, providing feedback to improve performance and engaging and motivating staff to deliver on objectives including in a non-hierarchical dimension
  • Effective interpersonal skills, adaptable to all levels of the organization: Listening, providing meaning, and influencing

Technical Systems Proficiency:

  • Computer proficiency – able to navigate Email, Internet and Google Suite/similar environment competently, with emphasis on Google Docs, Google Sheets and Google Slides.
  • Proficiency in test automation tools and frameworks
  • Knowledge of scripting languages
  • Experience with defect-tracking tools
  • Software Testing Fundamentals: A deep understanding of various testing methodologies (e.g., black-box, white-box, gray-box, integration, system, acceptance) and techniques (e.g., test case design, test data preparation, defect tracking)
  • Understanding of Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery pipelines and tools
