Experienced AV Engineer
Tempest Technologies, LLC is the Northwest’s premier commercial Audio Video integration firm, and we are looking for a Design Engineer to join our team. Position Overview
The AV Engineer will provide technical sales support as a solution expert for key clients. Working with the Sales Team, the Sales Engineer will determine customer requirements, influence assessment criteria, set customer expectations, conduct presentations, and set the standard for quality solutions. This position will develop relationships with client decision-makers and technical staff, and will be responsible for creating, influencing, and driving the customer vision.
Responsibilities
As an integral part of our team, you will be responsible for:
- Driving the technology evaluation stage of the sales process.
- Establishing customer needs and presenting solutions.
- Determining client expectations for system functionality.
- Recommending general and specific solutions to the client.
- Designing functional systems for final engineering and quoting.
- Writing programmatic system descriptions to convey system expectations.
- Providing system diagram sketches for design production.
- Researching new products to stay current on technology solutions.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a strong business sense with the ability to understand business and technical objectives. They must be comfortable communicating solutions to customers and be a strategic thinker. The ideal candidate should also possess the following skills and traits:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of industry best practices.
- Knowledge of Audio Video design and theory.
- AV field experience made up of installation, configuration, commissioning, or programming.
- Strong self-starter with the ability to work independently.
- Experience working collaboratively with Sales and Engineering.
- AVIXA CTS or CTS-D Certification.
Requirements:
- Up to 30% travel, often on a last-minute basis
- CTS or CTS-D
- 5+ years experience designing complex AV solutions

This is a full-time position. Compensation is based on experience. References will be requested and contacted.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $45.00 per hour
