Present a personal and professional image to cultivate and support Peninsular’s Cylinder company culture of world class customer satisfaction. Provide customers and potential customers with product and application knowledge to assure maximum efficiency and productivity.

Job Description:
The primary responsibility of the Senior Sales Engineer is to manage the selling activities of Peninsular cylinder products through independent distributors and defined direct accounts that are assigned and located along the eastern seaboard of the U.S. The Sales Engineer is to perform all tasks related to that activity to assure that divisional goals are achieved with respect to maximum sales volume and profitability.

At the direction of the Sales Manager and within the limits of the division and corporate policies the position exercises primary control over all company related activities within the assigned area. This relates to all customer-related activities and problems. The position will work with Sales Manager and other factory functional areas to complete assigned sales and marketing goals.

Essential functions:
1. Maintain close relationship with current distributors, jointly develop sales goals for all products, evaluate progress, and make corrections to activities where necessary to achieve optimum market coverage.

2. Develop additional general or specialty channels of sale where necessary in order to achieve maximum sales to specific markets or for specific products.

3. Locate, contact, qualify, and secure business with existing or potential direct customers, OEM’s, re-sale and National Accounts.

4. Have total understanding of the geographic territory in relation to market potential, current market penetration, and opportunities to increase such penetration.

5. Should have expert knowledge and understanding of entire Peninsular cylinder product line in respect to performance, mechanical operation, proper applications, and customer features and benefits.

6. Should have a complete understanding of local competition, its marketing strengths and weaknesses, its product offerings, and the means of effectively marketing the Peninsular cylinder product over such offerings.

7. Plan, schedule, and conduct sales meetings on as needed basis in order to instruct distributor personnel on existing and new product offerings, engineering and policy changes, special pricing, terms and discounts, and new market opportunities and competitive actions.

8. Report monthly progress activities which include distributor performance, projections on future sales activity, significant competitive actions, obstacles and opportunities to selling more products.

9. Work with channels of sale to pursue a wider variety of product applications on all Peninsular cylinder products.

10. Operate within approved sales expense budgets.

11. Coordinate and cooperate with other divisional functional areas in order to establish and perpetuate open two way communication by supplying accurate and timely information.

12. Develop and present an Annual Goal Plan for net sales and profit.

13. Maximize gross profit margins through either the distributor or a direct account.

14. Submit monthly itineraries with projected travel plans and customer visits.

· Bachelor’s Degree Required. Engineering Preferred

Core competency:

· Extensive knowledge and experience with selling hydraulic and pneumatic cylinder equipment.

· Thorough knowledge of market, customer requirements, cylinder equipment, including, but not limited to, its performance, functionality, characteristics, features, and benefits.

· The territory will include Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, North and South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Alabama.

· Travel Required

Statement:

· This position is authorized to commit spending of company resources in accordance with standard operating procedures and in line with budget spending.

· This position is not authorized to enter into any negotiations that will bind Peninsular Cylinders to any contractual commitments or business agreements without the approval of the President & GM

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
