Position Details
Reporting to the Director of Agility, the Entrepreneurial Strategist will work to expand the supports and programming for Entrepreneurship at the University of Lethbridge. The Entrepreneur Strategist will fill an identified gap in our current Agility Applied Innovation program by developing and providing face-to-face workshops, mentorship, and coaching for entrepreneurial students, staff & faculty.

The entrepreneurial strategist will be responsible for organizing and running non-credit workshops, hackathons, and industry events (http://www.uleth.ca/agility). The position will support excellence in teaching for faculty and innovation, Work Integrated Learning, and talent development for students. They will also support the Teaching Centre with the enhancement of teaching, learning, and innovation, while fostering a culture of teaching excellence at the University of Lethbridge.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Agility Innovation Zone Coordinator, faculty, students, staff, the Agility project team, and the Office of Research & Innovation Services, to develop programming that upholds the unique identity of the University of Lethbridge. This individual will start as soon as possible.

The tasks and duties for this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Develop, organize, and facilitate non-credit entrepreneurial programs and workshops for students, graduate students, and faculty.
  • Create & coordinate new/existing entrepreneurial events, such as hackathons, industry events, and pitch competitions, to advance the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship at the university.
  • Promote Agility and RINSA programming: Promote events and activities, internally and externally, through multiple channels using social media, print and digital media, and cross-promotion of various groups.
  • Stakeholder Engagement – engage with stakeholders both internal and external to the institution on matters of relevance for advancing the Entrepreneurship Continuum and supporting programs’ mandates.
  • Mentor and Coach students, graduate students, and faculty throughout their entrepreneurial journey.
  • Work with faculty, staff, and students, to develop and implement experiential learning opportunities for the Agility program.
  • Work with the Agility Director to ensure an online and social media presence for the Agility program.
  • Provide tours and build relationships with the ULethbridge community, granting agencies, and external organizations such as Tecconnect, Lethbridge College, Alberta Innovates, and RINSA.
  • When appropriate, represent the Agility program at fundraising and community events.


The University of Lethbridge is undertaking a job classification review for Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) positions. As such, the classification level currently assigned for this position may be adjusted as a result of this project.

Position Qualifications
The successful candidate will have:
  • A Master’s degree, and a minimum of 2-4 years of experience in entrepreneurship, start-ups, or entrepreneurial education.
  • Training and certification in Design Thinking Processes from an acknowledged industry expert or certified educational institute (i.e. IDEO U, Stanford d. School, Darden University, ULethbridge courses in design thinking).
  • Training in Business Model Canvas and Lean Startup processes.
  • Experience with teaching/mentoring post-secondary students is required.

A valid unrestricted Class 5 Driver’s License with no more than 6 demerits and submission of a motor vehicle record (driver abstract) dated within 3 months of the posting close is required.

Starting Salary Range (at 1.0 FTE)
$5,291.00 - $5,990.00 monthly

Full Salary Range (at 1.0 FTE)
$5,291.00 - $6,687.00 monthly (AUPE - Grade 12)
