Job Description

Overview

The Sales Engineer position will be a hybrid working between Manufacturing, Engineering and Sales. Occasional travel (up to 20%) may be required to other NFS locations, customer offices, supplier manufacturing locations and trade shows. Job emphasis is on technical sales, account development and relationship building. The Sales Engineer will roll up through Engineering but heavily involved in vetting and quoting new opportunities that align with Sales’ strategy while keeping in mind Manufacturing capabilities and production schedule bandwidth.

Summary of essential job functions

  • Stay up to date with OEM model year changes including special, electrical, functional, and how these changes impact the end user experience or mesh with spec’d out customer content.
  • Understand product line usages and applications (e.g. when to use one product over another in various situations)
  • Develop and implement an account-based territory plan to proactively contact (by phone, email, and in-person) existing accounts and find new prospects.
  • Develop “deep & wide” relationships within suppliers to maximize sales growth.
  • Provide technical sales assistance and quotations.
  • Record and maintain account information in the Company database.
  • Schedule and record all sales activities and next steps in the Company database.
  • Schedule & conduct monthly reviews with Management.
  • Network referrals in territory.
  • Accountability: KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) developed, tracked, measured.

Abilities required

This position requires the ability to effectively communicate with and sell to various vocations across different OEM platforms. Strong communication and problem solving within an organization by determining the best solution to meet the customer’s needs. Customers include end users, dealers, OEMs, and leasing companies. Important attributes include exceptional time management skills, determination, critical thinking, technical aptitude, problem solving, the ability to qualify opportunities, and the ability to sell value over price.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $90,000.00 per year

Experience:

  • Sales: 5 years (Preferred)
  • Automotive engineering: 5 years (Preferred)

  • Detroit, MI 48213 (Required)

Ability to Relocate:

  • Detroit, MI 48213: Relocate before starting work (Required)
