The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for the development and performance of all sales associates in the assigned markets and ensures their clear understanding of the company vision, products, sales skills, customer service expectations and the achievement of all company goals and quotas. This position staffs and directs a team of three or more sales associates. The Regional Sales Manager provides leadership, strategic planning, and monitoring for all sales activities to ensure the region achieves maximum profitability, high customer satisfaction and growth in line with the company vision and goals. This leader establishes plans and jointly builds strategies with their team to increase sales revenues from current clients and new client acquisitions. The Regional Sales Manager will provide the training and educational programs necessary to insure their team performs at the highest levels. This role requires participation in major client presentations and discussions to ensure the best customer service in class. The RSM is expected to be out in the field with their team at least three days a week or more visiting clients and potential clints of State Industrial Products.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Directly responsible for the company’s revenue and profitability within their region of operation
- Create and manage regional team budgets
- Develop an annual business plan and sales strategy for the market to ensure attainment of company sales goals, profitability and team accountability
- The plan should include the following:
- Staffing requirements
- Sales goals by quarter and by fiscal year
- Sales goals by product line
- Planned training sessions
- Set minimum standards for field time and training
- Weekly one-on-one call with each sales associate on their team to review their performance, discuss open issues, and provide guidance
- Conduct biweekly team meetings
- Establish and track accountability expectations across all levels
- Provide ongoing, open communication regarding company initiatives, new lines, sales strategies, etc.
- Identify market opportunities and deploy sales resources accordingly
- Work with all operating divisions that support the sales organization to create and ensure a collaborative work environment
- Hold sales associates accountable for sales goal attainment
- Communicate job expectations to all sales associates in the Region: planning requirements, sales reporting, reviewing job contributions, and developing actions to attain goals as well as enforcing policies and procedures
- Responsible for the performance and development of the Sales Associate
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures and maintain the highest level of business ethics codes and ensure that they are communicated to and implemented by the regional teams
- Bachelor Degree in related field
- Five years of sales management experience and in the B2B sales
- Two years’ successful field sales experience in consultative selling
- Proven record of sales success and history of sales management accomplishments
- Experience of managing a remote sales team
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate expectations and actively listen while communicating in person or via the telephone
- Ability to solve a wide range of complex, multi-disciplinary problems which must consider short and intermediate term impact
- Ability to compose sensitive, non-routine correspondence requiring tact and diplomacy and/or complex reports or summaries for which established formats generally do not exist
- Travel for company functions to attend sales leadership meetings, regional and district sales meetings, sales conferences, vendor fairs and training sessions
- Estimated travel 30-40%
- Must maintain a valid driver license with a driving record that meets Company minimum standards for travel throughout the assigned district to ride along and meet with Territory Sales Associates and to service customers and call upon prospects
- Ability to build, develop and lead a sales team
- Strong business acumen
