We are looking for a Team Lead Surfactants to join our Performance Chemical Division supporting our Global Business Unit (GBU) Oilfield Chemicals team at the Houston, TX office.

As a Team Lead for Surfactants you will build a high-performing team to drive growth of BASF's surfactants portfolio in the oilfield industry. This role includes managing a New Business Development Manager (NBDM) to identify market needs and provide chemical solutions as well as overseeing technical personnel developing formulations, conducting application testing, and guiding implementation for customers. Additionally, the role will collaborate with product management and account managers to address customer needs and promote products. This position reports to the Global Business Manager for the portfolio.

- Developing a cohesive and high functioning team
- Representing the interests of the Global Oilfield business unit with supplying divisions and builds high collaboration cross divisions
- Establishing customer contacts and manage high-level customer relationships together with the commercial team
- Identifying customer needs for new technology, collaborates with new business development & sales, executes and promotes activities at customers
- Defining offering to customers and rout to market strategies
- Being accountable for achieving profitability targets for products within the surfactant business line in accordance with SBU strategy and annual operating plan
- Providing guidance on application testing and provides technical support to customers, sales, or product service
- Planning and ensuring execution of project timelines as well as safety and regulatory requirements
- Being responsible for management of designated laboratory areas, EHS, information protection, compliance, code of conduct and adherence to legal of BASF group
- Travelling to support colleagues and/ or customers in the field as necessary
If you...
- Bachelor of Science Degree in a related scientific discipline (e.g. Engineering, Chemistry, Physics)
- Master of Science Degree in Chemistry, Engineering or other Physical Science, or Master preferred
- Minimum of 5 years application experience with respect to surfactants
- Prior experience in managing personnel in a technical environment
- Experience in other production or stimulation focused technologies considered an asset.
