The Sales Manager will be responsible for maintaining relationships and increasing business levels with existing market segment accounts and actively prospecting and securing new business across specified market segments. Sales Manager will preparing all event documentation and coordinate with Sales, F&B and other property departments to ensure consistent, high-level service throughout pre-event, event and post-event phases. Communicate and coordinate functions with customer and serve as the liaison between the customer and other departments/managers. Recognize opportunities to maximize revenue opportunities by up-selling and offering enhancements to create memorable and outstanding events.
Specifically, the Sales Manager will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
· Solicit new business for hotel utilizing proactive selling.
· Develop target lists and action plans for solicitation.
· Travel locally to conduct outside sales calls, promote the hotel, and review competition.
· Develop and conduct sales presentations to prospective clients.
· Coordinate and conduct hotel tours with potential clients.
· Prepare information for, meet with, and entertain clients as deemed appropriate for maintaining client relationship.
· Ensure revenue goals for both room & banquets are achieved and sales productivity benchmarks are met.
· Maintain professionalism and accuracy in both internal and external communication.
· Handle account details to ensure all pertinent aspects of solicitation and closing are maintained in hotel records.
· Maintain knowledge of the hotel’s competitive set and adjust sell strategy accordingly.
· Ensure events progress seamlessly by following established procedures, collaborating with other associates and ensuring accuracy. Desire and ability to perform direct outside sales.
· Coordinate details of the event with customer; documents Banquet Event Order (BEO).
· Lead the BEO & Group/Event Resume meetings as needed.
· Greet customer during the event phase ensures all requests have been identified and implemented.
· Manage group room blocks and meetings space for market assigned market segment groups.
· Identify operational challenges associated with the event and determine how to best work with the property staff and customer to solve these challenges and/or develop alternative solutions
· Use experience and judgment to integrate current trends in event management and event design.
· Coordinate and communicate event details both verbally and in writing to the customer and property operations.
· Ensure billing accuracy and conducts bill review with the client prior to processing final invoice.
· Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs.
· Deliver excellent customer service throughout the customer experience and encourage the same from other associates and managers.
· Make presence known to customer at all times during the event.
· Follow up with customer post-event.
· Respond to and handle guest problems and complaints.
· Ensure all associates and managers understand expectations and parameters for group/event activities.
· Conduct formal pre- and post-event meetings as required to review communicate guest needs and feedback.
Experience and Education
- At least 2 years of progressive experience in a hotel or a related field; or a 2-year college degree and 2 or more years of Sales, Sales Administration, or Catering experience; or a 4-year college degree and at least 1 or more years of Sales, Sales Administration, or Catering experience.
· Marriott experience a plus, but not required
Skill Set
· Excellent verbal and written skills.
· Able to use advanced computer systems (client tracking, inventory control, forecasting tools).
· Goal-oriented and creative personality.
· Excellent guest relation skills.
· Sales experience a plus.
· The hotel operates 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Schedules must accommodate fluctuating business demands and associates may be asked to work shifts other than those they prefer or normally work.
· Carry out all reasonable requests by leadership team.
