Position Summary
The Sales Consultant is responsible for maximizing sales of the brands we represent to customers in an assigned territory by direct contact, and by prospecting new accounts. You must be willing to execute sales plans and special promotions towards the achievement of predetermined sales goals. The sales rep will also service customers with special product deliveries on short notices, and other customer sales needs. Service of these customers may also include actual placement of temporary and permanent point of sale material within retail accounts and Special Promotions events in on premise accounts.
Essential Functions
- Solicit sales in your territory to achieve sales objectives as well as evaluate new business opportunities.
- Ensure the development of existing accounts within the sales territory.
- Develop and prospect new accounts that open in the assigned marketing area.
- Introduce new products, new promotions and provide additional marketing service to customers.
- Deliver product or other related merchandise when required.
- Position requires intermittent standing, sitting, walking, bending, squatting, twisting and lifting. The ability to frequently lift and/or move 30 to 40 pound cases, ability to occasionally lift and/or move 50-pound cases and stand for extended periods of time
- Analyze information on competitive products, promotions, pricing and marketing policies.
- Handles all customer issues in a timely and efficient manner within Company guidelines.
- Ensure supplier distribution goals are met within territory including work with/ ride-alongs and special events.
- Work flexible hours which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays depending on the territory.
- Extensive travel (70% - 85%) by automobile. Must maintain a personal vehicle for performance and safety.
- Maintain professional personal appearance and integrity to meet the standards of performance established by the company.
- Perform other related duties assigned.
- Manage account via: Distribution, Pricing, POS and servicing every account in the assigned territory on a regular basis.
- Ensure every account's A/R stays in good standing with the company.
Preferred Qualifications
- Standard working knowledge of wine and spirits.
- Two (2) years of adult beverage, product sales, hospitality experience, and/or College Degree.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Strong communication skills with good verbal, persuasion, and writing ability.
- Basic Mathematical functions on pricing and percentages.
- Ability to pass a drug test, background check and have a clean MV record.
- Have existing relationships with on premise alcohol-related businesses in territory (i.e. restaurants, bars and hotels)
- Must live in the assigned territory.
- Internally motivated applicants are preferred.
