The District Sales Manager is responsible for growing In Home Design Sales in a specified geographical area which includes CA, CO, and WA. The DSM team develops and executes strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce by diagnosing capability gaps; recruiting, selecting and developing talent; supporting mentorship, succession planning; and leveraging the capabilities of new and existing talent.

The District Sales Manager is required to maintain the Smith & Noble brand message by executing all company programs and best practices that focus on ensuring the highest probability of revenue generation. The DSM strives to uphold and coach IHDs on company core values. In addition, each DSM ensures compliance with company policies/procedures, develops and implements action plans to ensure sales goals are achieved.

Responsibilities You’ll Have

  • Clearly communicates aligned sales goals and monitors progress. Develops and implements plans and practices to ensure Designers have the information resources, time and skillset needed to succeed. Sponsors continuous improvement and elimination of non-value-added work.
  • Develops talent and replacement plans for own organization that increases effectiveness and enhances bench strength. Understands team strengths and uses these attributes to improve KPI and sales results.
  • Educates Designers on products, service offerings, and newest promotions.
  • Develops high performing teams that can accomplish and adapt quickly to organization changes, goals and priorities. Ensures strategies and change initiatives are communicated effectively so teams understand the “WHY.”
  • Supports designers in assisting them to quickly solve customer issues. Utilizes experience, insight and data to determine how to best exceed the customers expectation.
  • Increases success rate of Designer generating appointments on their own and for which the DC earns additional compensation.
  • Train and Coach Designers to continuously improve Key Performance Metrics and increase their earnings through a combination of team training sessions, one on one interactions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What Smith & Noble Looks For

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • 3+ years of recent experience leading, motivating, and developing a highly dynamic and aggressive outside, in-home sales team
  • Proven record of success in meeting and exceeding sales objectives
  • Ability to communicate the big picture and actively listen
  • Ability to work flexible hours to participate in evening and weekend events
  • Ability to travel 75%
  • Skilled at attracting and retaining talent
  • Ability to manage time effectively while remaining customer focused
  • Ability to recognize/resolve problems

PREFERED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Multi-level management experience in a sales or service environment
  • Established professional network in local community
  • Ability to build strong relationships internally and externally
  • Ability to actively participate in training sessions, meetings, and presentations
  • Window Treatment experience, a plus. Interior design knowledge helpful

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • BA, BS, AS Degree in a business-related field or 3 years multi-level management experience
  • Experience analyzing financial reports and taking actions to improve results based on analytics
