Job Overview
We are recruiting a MunicipalCivil Superintendent to join our team. As a Municipal Civil Superintendent, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing civil construction projects, including roadways, bridges, utilities, drainage systems, and earthworks. You will supervise daily field operations, coordinate with project teams, subcontractors, and vendors, and ensure that the project is completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage all aspects of civil construction projects, including grading, excavation, drainage systems, road construction, and utilities installation
- Ensure that work is performed in compliance with project specifications, engineering plans, and applicable regulations
- Direct daily field operations, including the scheduling, coordination, and supervision of crew members, subcontractors, and vendors
- Ensure that crews have the necessary resources, materials, and equipment to perform their tasks efficiently and safely
- Conduct regular safety inspections, toolbox talks, and incident investigations to prevent accidents and maintain a safe working environment
- Conduct frequent site inspections to ensure that all work meets quality standards and is completed according to project specifications
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that the project progresses on schedule, within budget, and according to scope
- Work quickly and effectively to resolve issues to minimize disruption to the project timeline and ensure work progresses smoothly
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- Minimum 7 to 10 years' experience in civil construction (supervisory role is preferred)
- Extensive experience managing large-scale civil projects, including roadways, utilities, drainage, and site development
- Experience with traffic control, traffic diversion and road safety
- Strong experience in managing all phases of civil construction projects, from planning and scheduling to execution and close-out
- Strong leadership qualities with the ability to manage, motivate, and direct field teams, subcontractors, and vendors
- In-depth knowledge of construction safety standards and regulations and ability to enforce these measures
- Strong problem-solving skills to identify and address issues quickly on-site, minimizing delays and keeping projects on track
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage competing deadlines to ensure the timely completion of projects
- Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol test including cannabis
